who has installed a cat eliminator/mid-pipe on their 1260, and is running the stock ECU with no additional tricks, like a REXXER, Rapidbike, or Tuneboy? if you are running this set up (stock ECU and a cat eliminator/mid-pipe), is the engine running too lean, are there any issues with the a/f mixture remaining stock without the catalytic convertor?
I've been running my Shark titanium headers and Termi D193 end can for over a year (& 3000 kms) with the stock ecu and a heal tech device for the exhaust servo disable on my 2017 1200 DVT. No problems or issues to report. I also have a Sprint Air Filter installed. No tuning tricks or piggy back devices whatsoever. Could even be running rich as there is soot buildup on the termi end can mesh outlet. Sounds lovely and has the occasional pop/bang on the over-run. Be not afraid I say!
3000 kms is not a lot to judge any potential long term damage. I would put it on a dyno just to be safe that the AFR is within specs.
Disappointed. When I saw the thread title I thought it was the answer to all my feline woes. On the off chance...does your cat eliminator have any effects on actual cats? If it does I'll take a round dozen...
How will he evaluate? Just because it hasn’t broken down in 3,000 kms does not mean it won't later. I shouldn’t even have mentioned the mileage comment as the heart of my post was to put it on a Dyno to view and possibly re-balance the AFR. That's really the most accurate way to evaluate the impact of the changes.
I see proof that AFR looks fine (at most RPM) at 100% throttle. Doesn’t show the other 99% of the time (assuming this isn’t a track bike that spends all its time at WFO). I’m just playing a bit of devil’s advocate here, as I have my own vested interest; I installed the full Termi yesterday and I’m trying to decide whether to take it to the dealer to have them load the remap now or ride it another 400 miles & have it done at first service.
Just like MWhite dyno readout my AFR is also within specs with no cat and no tuning. AFR was checked at a local test facility. I'm in galway, ireland at sea level. Canada however might be a different story !!!
That's cool. please post your dyno charts. We've posted ours here: https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/dyno-sheet-1260.63926/
