Hi, looking for a realistic rough value on 916 track bike with v5. Engine built with high compression pistons, corse slipper clutch ect setup on dyno with PC. Full Öhlins forks/ shock/ damper. Ducati racing wheels, alloy subframe, sp floating disks with 996 calipers, titanium exhausts. Some nice bits, fairings not great. But bike clean.
Not selling, I’m looking to buy it but don’t want to insult the guy with an offer, I’m not sure on track bikes values
A lot less than the sum of the parts that’s for sure. Think road bike price and knock off a good chunk and you won’t be far wrong.
anything from £4500 up to £16000 i saw on advertised for. i do think track bikes are worth less than people actually think there worth
Do you know who did the engine build and how many track miles it’s done since build or the last refresh ? Running a ‘built for track engine’ is not a cheap hobby. I’d also want to confirm that the frame and engine numbers are intact and visible. I used to run a Power Commander III USB on my 853 and it proved to be very unreliable. You obviously have a budget (which needs to include a contingency), go in with that, even if it’s low and if the chap says no, walk away. Andy
Built by Geoff green, g tech performance? Was in 2008 and only done a few parade laps since. My plan is to rob the öhlins and alloy subframe for my mint 916 and then either have a nice track toy or possibly sell it on.
Not sure about your strategy, time consuming and expensive IME In hindsight, which of course is perfect, I’d have just bought what I wanted and not ended up with the rooms full of bits I currently have. Andy
Not really, about a afternoons work changing it all over. I think the bike is cheap and will sell with öhlins removed for a similar price, so instead of buying the full ohlins/ triple tree for 2000+, subframe for ~500, plus the nice brakes and Ducati racing wheel which is a bonus I could get them for a lot less. We are in isolation so I have nothing but time
Track bikes are difficult to sell as the buyer audience is smaller than road bikes. In spite of all the high performance parts, gauging their condition is critical. If you want the forks, just make an offer for them and save yourself a load of trouble.
Like most modded bikes. Look at this: looks nice, but it’s almost gen 3 money for a gen 1, no standard stuff with it, fairly high miles. 2k over priced imho https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133593857700
