(small) Bike Things You've Done Today

  1. Cut and put a small fold on an alloy off cut I had kicking about. Didn’t want to ruin the DP reg holder so just removed it and made this. 7” x 5” plate siliconed on and job's a good un.

  3. I’ve also just fitted a carbon end cap that I was bought as a present, to the exhaust on the V2 :)

  4. Very yucky and i thought he gave up the drugs.

  5. New seals fitted to both wheels on track bike due to captive spacer damage/ham(mer) fisted prior owner.

  6. I’ve eventually started up the V2. Battery was showing 12.4V and though turning wasn’t catching. Quick blast with the trickle charger and I eventually got it fired up. Phew!

  7. The Hornet is in dire need of some attention. Really can't be arsed tho.

  8. Washed the worst of the crud off the Multistrada after my ride on Thursday. As above but without the snow, too bloody cold to give it the works. Pads, discs and chain given a good scrub though. Andy

  9. Andy, what make/model of hand guards are they and would they fit the Scrambler 1100?

  10. These Terry, https://barkbusters.net/products/universal-mounting-hardware/4130-stm-005-np/ with these, https://barkbusters.net/products/carbon/3488-bcf-003/. Don’t know what handlebar the 1100 Scrambler has but Barkbuster do several types of universal fitting. The one I bought is for a hollow handlebar and the kit came with an expandable fixing plus a sleeve for 2 different internal diameters. I believe there is a third adaptor sold separately if the internal diameter is 1”. I had to be a little creative with a Dremel but not a problem. Andy

  12. MOT'd an UglyStrada, but not the intended one* as black bike with expired ticket decided to be cantankerous this morning, and too late notice to cancel - I was just thinking what a trouble-free experience it had been as was on the button for the past two weeks. I topped up with fuel from a 5 litre container and wondering if it had some water in it.. only explanation that comes to me. Running now but still a bit lumpy.

*luckily another bike was a month off needing a test.

  16. Started benelli 2c, hadn't run for a year, year old fuel in tank and carbs, didn't drain or anything, would you believe it started 3rd kick. What's all this about petrol going off...

  17. A Benelli 2C is one of the few bikes I regret selling, I even called the guy I sold it to a week or so later to try to buy it back to be informed that it had been stripped for parts... Anyway as for old petrol, I bought a Mk1 Caddy that had been stood in a barn for 6 or 7 years, dropped the oil, did the cam belt and turned it over to get the oil round. That started on the second go at which point the exhaust disappeared into dust but that's another story.

As for the bikes, the Monster passed the MoT (yay!) with a couple of advisories for a noisy exhaust (open Termis for the win) and the tester still doesn't like the red bulb behind a clear lens even though the red bulb is even redder than last year, oh well.

  20. Went into the garage for the first time in weeks.
Cup of tea, a few fags, music on loud and mooched about thinking about belt changes and fitting chains.
Removed front sprocket cover on Monster (2 bolts) to check I’d bought the right Renthal sprocket.
    No actual productive work done.
    Nice though.
