Whoever was doing the planing should be bollocked for not using a push stick (safety). I tend to avoid stuff like this sort of richman's project because though I do appreciate its merits. I am not of any sort of league too ever be included or attempt such staggeringly gorgeous level of expertise & execution.

And just to make you jealous I used to drive these for people in my summer holidays, can think of worse jobs! Reminds me of riding helmetless in shorts and flip flops!
I,drove them, and many other Rivas in the late seventies-, they had 2x 350bhp engines, V8 iirc. The problem wasn’t the use of throttle more the clients daughters.
I worked for the Marine Division of Chrysler Corp. for a number of years so got to ride in or drive quite a lot of different sports/power boats and Riva's are total class. We had a Lamborghini powered race boat in our yard for a while , the sound of the motors running up was epic and travelling at close to 100 mph on water is something else
