I bought this bike as an investment 2 yrs ago. Not really ridden it. Just start it every couple of weeks and go brum brum. Hoping it appreciates? This time it does not start? Notice fuel pump does not prime after turning the key. So, investigated on this and many forums. 1. Lifted tank. Checked to see if power is going to pump. Continuous 12v to fuel level gauge. 0.7v continually to pump supply (pre ignition), 12v for 2 secs when ignition is switched on. 2. So remove tank and them pump. Put 12v (old battery) across terminals of pump. Pump runs ok 3. Put 12v through leads running through pump housing to pump. Pump runs fine. 4. Remove connection at pump. 12v is being received for 2 secs when ignition is switched on. 5. Checked continuity of leads going through pump housing by wiggling them. Seem ok I seem to have come up against a brick wall. Why is the pump not priming for 2 secs when ignition is switched on, if there is power? PS Relay makes a klick when ignition switched on. ( I wouldn't be getting 12v to pump if that was knackered) Please help.
Usual suspect is the micro relay in the battery box. A 2 quid part that causes no end of problems. Just awkward to get at but can be moved to a more convenient position.
Thanks for your answer Chris. Are you saying that even though 12v is getting to the pump it may still be the relay thats the problem?
Do all the cheap stuff first. Check for wire continuity. The coil/injector/pump relay would be next. The cables entering the base of the fuel pump can break. This was covered on another thread on here.

It's worthless. This is what happens when you don't ride them. I'll give you a good deal through to get you out a mess.
Sorted. Replace relay and pump primed. Wish I’d done this before taking pump out of tank. Still I thought electric was getting to pump? Anyway thanks for the advice everyone. I’ve replaced filter. Came across this (photo) It’s the grommet covering wires going into the pump housing. A bit perished probably because of the heat. Anyone have any ideas on repairing this?
I didn’t have to take the battery box off to get at the fuel pump relay. The owner before has repositioned it in a recess near the battery held in by tap. Bit heathrobinsonish but easily accessible
That’s what my pump wiring looked like... Note, I had changed the relay before I got to the pump wiring.
