  1. All depends of your definition of 'better' ....

  2. "Luddites", a touch harsh :(. I've no doubt at all that it will be an extremely capable bike, "better" well that's more about personal opinion as it covers so many areas but clearly it's not "better" on fuel economy but that's progress I guess ;)

  3. Rear cylinders shut down at tickover on the V4.

  4. I put a deposit on my 1260s in 2017 before it had been officially announced. I picked it up in Dec '17. The only thing that would have made it even better was a V4 engine. When I heard that Ducati had done that I nearly put a deposit down straight away. I'm so glad I didn't.

  5. I have ordered one for basically the same reasons, I am always with pillion these days as well, so hopefully, we will both enjoy it, I am in for the end of March April delivery as well.

  6. I sincerely hope you love it. It sounds just right for you. Don't let our disappointment spoil your experience. I am looking forward to trying one.

  7. Having a 16 DVT I don’t like the new Muttley, in fact I am not enamoured with any new Ducati, but I do like the look of the new Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX Performance Tourer, at 64 I might have to have a peak at it.

  11. The new 1000SX is sweet!

  12. Well, well, well, Ducati have successfully managed to turn this Multistrada V4 thread into a Kawasaki 1000sx thread. :joy:

I’ll be test riding the Kwaker in the spring. Just don’t know that I can live with an inline 4.

  13. If it’s anything like my s1000r, it’s got torque everywhere and can be ridden like a big scooter twist and go at any speed in 4th

  14. But its boring according to a friend that has one. It doesn't entice him out on a ride.

  15. Well, I rode a friends 2014 model ZX1000 and tbh, I couldn’t wait to get off it?
But this updated 2020 model is so improved it’s like a different bike, I bought it for touring duties mainly as I still have my 899 Panigale to cover the sports side of things and for that it’s perfect!
I wouldn’t call it boring, just very sophisticated, it’s smooth, quiet, no wind buffeting, has all the toys to play with, it’s really comfortable and that’s what you need on tour when you’ve already done 200 plus miles and you’ve still got another 100 to do before the hotel of ferry.

Mechanically it’s really smooth and quiet, even from a cold startup there’s no engine rattle noise at all, you need something easy to live with when your on a big tour, I don’t need my senses battering with vibration, loud exhaust or ultra stiff suspension, that kind of character I can do without on a tour.

It’s far from slow as well, I recently got my eye on the gen 3 Superduke 1290, ohh that’ll be mega fast I thought, so I compared the stats in two “Bike” magazine road tests, the 1000SX in this one is a 2017 model without quickshifter as well, but basically, the ZX is faster 0 to 60 mph, ..it destroys the KTM by over 2 seconds on a top gear roll on and despite the KTM having the latest Brembo Stylema brake calipers, it also stops in a shorter distance than the KTM, here, look for yourselves...

    Kawasaki

And the best thing of all, I got every extra fitted to the bike and the panniers, power socket, double usb point under seat and extended the warranty to four years, all for just over £13 grand!

Also MCN voted it best all rounder this year, ..has a lot of plus points going for it really

  16. And 1 negative point it shares with the Multistrada V4, heavy at 235kg, kerb weight. Andy

  17. In all fairness the Kawa is a road focused tourer not a pretend off road bike

  18. The only way to make new bikes lighter is to leave off loads off equipment or make them ridiculously expensive by using the lightest raw materials.

  19. Yamaha FJ 1300 weighs in at a mighty 296kg, that’s a focussed tourer too. :D Andy

  20. I tried one this year (Kawasaki) for me I found it too heavy, too bulky and lacking in character and precision.
I will try a V4 Multi when the headmaster allows us out to play. Though I must admit the 19" front wheel does put me off.
