Hi I’m tightening the rear wheel nut on my 1260 PP and just want to check if the rear wheel nut torque setting is 230Nm ie same as 1200/1260S when it’s got the Marchesini forged aluminium wheels. Doesn’t seem to be in the operating handbook. Can anyone help?
It’s 230Nm on a 1098R with forged wheels so I would expect yours will be same. Don’t forget a light coat of grease on the cone of the nut and threads.
I’m sure you’ll do a wheel change again so why not buy a suitable torque wrench (or add to Christmas list)?
Halfords Professional range are good, especially with membership discount card. Not sure if you're supposed to grease the cone? Thought it was only the thread. This would affect the torque setting significantly I fear. Edit - just checked the workshop manual, it says "Lubricate the wheel shaft threaded end with indicated grease", doesn't mention the cone.
+1 for the Halfords’s torque wrench. They’ll be on offer after Christmas + the forum members discount card as mentioned above brings the price down to around £90. You know you want one.
Got the Halfords Professional with my forum member Halfords card. £86 at the time. All Halfords pro stuff is backed by their no quibble guarantee. Which has helped me on a couple of occasions.
One of the benefits of being a paid up premium member of this forum. They do take a while to come through though. https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/pages/Supporter/
Just tighten until your face goes red, your knuckles go white and then give it another half a turn and you’ll be fine!
It varies, depends what you're buying. Won't take long to recoup your £15, especially if you run a car too. https://www.halfords.com/customer-services/trade-card/what-is-halford-trade-card.html
From what I can see the cone doesn’t make full contact with the wheel so grease on it would just collect dirt(?)
