http://www.britishsuperbike.com/new...jIzpz7vVOPiBfrDv2uJ0ze5lKFBHkJb6hq4uxvPmw5slY. Stuart Higgs is still tinkering with the BSB so a number of changes to the format for FP, Qualifying and now every race weekend is a triple header. No full team testing outside the UK though. Given previous years, I don’t quite understand that decision. Andy
I’d imagine they’re trying to get a grip on the costs and not let the bigger budget teams run away too much. The costs for even stock 1000 to have a half decent go at it have shot up in recent years. Although many riders test with just the bike and a spanner man or two as it is (including Iddon who I ran in to a few times testing in Spain last year). So may not make much difference ..
Maybe they’re thinking of any restrictions on travel next year too, we’ve seen how quickly borders can get closed down?
Who knows mate. I thought Higgs was a bit busy getting up to the back wheels in Faye Ho to give it much thought
you are not kidding mate. Taylor Mac just did a YouTube video saying £175k for a single bike in super stock
Not that surprising when you consider you’ll be doing 20k min on tyres alone aye I priced up stock, although obviously not a championship winning budget as I’m neither the rider nor have the budget. I reckon I could do it for a lot less aslong as I didn’t shunt a lot haha
Sam used to run top 25 in superstock 1000 and tyres alone £20k+ pa one bike. I’d imagine the bigger, front running teams spend that and more
When I very briefly toyed with the idea, my goal was to get in to the top 20. Sounds shit doesn’t it. But even that would be a shit hot weekend in that racket. i actually had the funds sort of lined up. But after that shunt I had at Oulton I fell out of love with it a bit and kind of wondered what the point was I’m convinced that a lot of those guys aren’t actually enjoying it. I think they get addicted to aspects of it. The competition and personality hooks etc. I haven’t met many racers who can put a good believable argument or a convincing one even that they actually genuinely love riding their bike when they’re racing and it’s not other factors. It’s a lot of cost and aggro.
Trouble is the British top classes now are so close. Half a second sees you often outside top 20. He went to roads and have done macau a couple of times. If you’re going to make a living at it, roads is easier imho to be competitive
