Sorry to bring the standard down - in such company of fine watches Casio G-Shock Mudmaster GG-B100 Very light for such a big chunky watch. Really good value - I think it was £325 new, but no sapphire crystal on this !
That looks like it has had some use - and your moneys worth out of it ! They do have their uses these G-Shock watches.
I spent some time in Nigeria back in the 80s. Whilst in Gombe, I drove into an ambush and despite the old Peugeot getting shot up pretty badly (were you there during the time of Maitatsine, Boko Haram's equally crazy predecessors?) but manged to get through it. Coincidentally, I also had a Rolex but the Submariner which my son now has. These days I have an IWC Men's Pilot and my day watch is a Suunto Ambit. Nigeria was crazy back then.

I was in Ajaokuta in '81, Abuja in "83 and Kaduna/Gombe in '84. From what you say, Nigeria hadn't changed much. Great watch, understated and the dial is not too busy and blingy.
