Anyone got the details for what the factory settings are for front and rear suspension (manual, not electronic) as well as what the sag should be. The front end is just not doing it for me and I want to start tweaking (no suspension shops open near me ). I'll be doing all the tweaking purely in touring mode as it's middle of the road in terms of suspension setup from what I can gather. It just doesn't want to lean in, and when it does, it's not happy. I'm still only 3km into the factory Scorpion tyres which I do NOT like at all, but they will do me until spring.
Is it the pikes peak with manual Ohlins or do you want to set the Sachs up manually (via the menu settings which are technically electronic)?
1260 S GT, so the Sachs. My understanding is Skyhook is only allowing the rider to set preload via the onboard menu? EDIT: If I wasn't such a lazy arse, I could have saved your time. I just had a quick look in the user manual... Front Hydraulic upside-down fork with spring preload, rebound and compression hydraulic damping complete electronic adjustment, managed with Ducati Skyhook Suspension Evo (DSS). Front fork is adjusted by means of electric impulses output by the instrument panel to adjuster on the LH fork leg. Only the RH fork leg is equipped with an external adjuster for sVting the preload of the inner spring. Stanchion diameter: 48 mm (1.89 in). Wheel travel: 170 mm (6.69 in). Rear Progressive SACHS monoshock and spring preload, compression and rebound complete adjustment, all managed electronically with Ducati Skyhook Suspension Evo (DSS). Rear wheel travel: 170 mm (6.69 in). I'll continue reading... Looks like my understanding was incorrect. I'm still stuck in 1200 S times from my last Multi lol EDIT 2: Doesn't look like I can delve as deep as I'd like, only setting from hardest to softest, with the option to set 'load' values between 1-24 (page 138): https://assets.ctfassets.net/oifkva..._Multistrada_1260S_Grand_Tour_-_EN_-_MY20.pdf
Correct preload on the right fork leg (spanner adjustment, not electronic) is essential, start there.
I would definitely check the factory settings. My first DVT (non S) was delivered with the suspension setup no where near the factory suggestions. I’d consider watching YouTube videos on how to check and set preload. That’s a good place to start a diy set up for your weight.
I'll just start from scratch (full close) and go from there. I'll take base measurements and settings currently applied to see what they've done and I'll also check current sag before I change anything.
Suspension set up on the 1200S/1260S has been covered quite extensively here. This is possibly the best thread, which helped me: https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/preload-on-rhs-fork-leg.52897/ Notably, preload on the front comes out of the factory, it would seem, set to 1 turn or less. Front pre-load is adjusted manually on the top of the right fork. Front fork adjustment is approx. 15Kg per one turn. There are a total of 10 turns. Adjusting Load mode, i.e. Rider, Rider + Luggage, Rider + Pillion, Rider + Pillion + Luggage changes the suspension pre-load at the rear. The rear preload range is from 7 to 24 and can be adjusted to a different level for each of the four load modes. See the above forum thread for more detail.
