749r owners, Carbon or Not ?

  1. Don't get me wrong. If its clean and tidy then they all look nice but in my limited experience with Ducs then the carbon one has the edge. I made the effort to find one that was as standard as I could but couldn't wait any longer as prices seemed to be rising.

The fact that the carbon ones were only produced for 2004 adds to that. As far as stone chips go I reckon venture shield is your friend. Mine has nearly 10000 miles on it now and you have to look hard to find any serious chips. There are a few on the leading edge of the side panels, mostly at the bottom.

The other option could be to buy a late plastic faired model and buy the carbon for it. There was a brand new set of genuine fairings on here a while ago so they are out there.

Good luck with whatever you purchase.

  6. Hope its not the one that was on ebay for £6.6k from essex way?

  7. so go on then what's the story?

  8. Good choice, look forward to the pics.

  9. Why? Seller has known good history amongst Ducatisti, bike was in fantastic condition (I know as I looked at it myself)

  10. Always interesting to hear what someone else's opinion is as you and I know rumours on forums are usually just that....if this chap has something valid to say that he substantiate then let's hear what it is..........I suspect he'll say nothing in all honesty if I had something to say about it I would do it through a PM to the buyer/prospective buyer after all I wouldn't want to see someone getting ripped off would you?

  11. I just know someone who looked at it to buy, however the seller was after a 'trade' sale with no warranty and he didn't get a good vibe as he felt the seller was a little 'cagey'. It might be nothing but he's had 2 749R's before.

  12. Seem like nothing to me......sounds like seller wants quick sale hence cheap price (no warranty) £6.5k is cheap if you ask me see here Ducati  749 R GENUINE CARBON MASTERPIECE for Sale - The Bike Specialists | Sheffield | South Yorkshire this will have a warranty but look at the price difference.....anyway I'm sure the seller has to give a 3 month warranty by law if a trader.......seems to be just a bit of scare mongering with nothing concrete to substantiate anything wrong with bike......who knows why? Anyway pointless conversation now as its been bought and may it bring its new owner many days of joy it looks a beauty....congrats again

  13. The bike is great condition, FSH, hpi checked.
