Defrosted the freezer compartment on my fridge, as I couldn't shut the door. Do I win the boring award?
Did a 5km run this morning and just walked the dog for nearly 2 hours. I need to be careful I'm in danger of getting fit.
Allow me to butt in! One of my physios is an expert on weight loss. As I want to lose weight, I happened to mention this, as I now can't run 1 metre! He told me that I was wrong to ever believe that running lost weight. With most people (including me) you do your run and beat your distance, or time record. You then celebrate after the shower, with a doorstep cheese and pickle sandwich and a packet of crisps - thus eating all of the calories that you just burnt. The only way to lose weight sustainably is to eat less!
I don't agree, if you eat 5000 calories but use up 5500 through exercise you will lose weight. Sure, if you burn 500 through a run and eat a extra 800 after it isn't going to work.
I'll never have a sixpack again but it's getting smaller. I thinks that's as much my diet as running though because I'm a pretty healthy eater.
Yes, but it doesn't work like that. I have a computer on my exercise bike. Amongst many things, it shows you calories used. It's fecking pathetic! I know for a fact that I could nullify all of the calories burnt in my exercise cycling by finishing off with a nice cheese and salami toastie! Sure, if you burn 5500 calories and consume 5000 then you'll lose weight - although not a much as you think because muscle weighs more than fat. If you look at heavyweight boxers who weigh 18/19 stone then it's not just blubber!
SWMBO started to diet in August last year after a spate of cake baking and eating during lockdown etc. And through smaller portions, no crap food and lots of exercise she lost close to 14kg by the beginning of November. And so far she’s stuck to what she was doing and has not put any back on. My support has involved eating smaller portions and exercising too. However I’m still eating stuff like chocolate etc. I’ve lost just under 3kgs.
glad to hear you on the mend. Yeah I’ve been on some runs this week and a cycle and I’m still struggling for overall pace and fitness but I’ll get there, day to day I’m back to normal.
Like most folks last year i spent more time in the kitchen fridge than the workplace and garden,so for the first time in my life the pounds went on.So less food and more activity is the new way forward without expiring of course.
I don't eat chips, but if I did and gave them up, it wouldn't make me fitter or have more stamina for trackdays/work etc. The biggest problem I have is living on my own I quite often end up cooking enough for two and either eat it or throw it away which goes against the grain.
I have managed to lose 2lb using my Fitbit Because I log all my food I have had 7 biscuits in 7 days instead of 2 packets I can see what calories I’m burning by moving more and I have upped my water intake by half Plus I’m sleeping better It also nudges me to complete my 250 steps an hour Best weight loss programme so far for me
If you stop eating (almost) all bread, potatoes, pasta & rice, you can eat whatever you like. Drink lots of water too.
