Let’s have your nominations for Most Underrated and Most Overrated. I’ll kick off ..... Most Underrated : Mick Fleetwood; Most Overrated : Nick Mason. Andy (yes, I am bored and yes, I have had several beers )
I came across this programme and well worth watching, the art of drumming mini series & narrated by ex-Style Council Steve White.with the usual suspects in the top ten list for me and some not,he discusses & demonstrates the backbeat, rhythm and layers etc. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10163380/
Buddy Rich Keith Moon (who was told he would never be any good as a drummer) Ginger Baker (who taught me quite a lot) Jon Hiseman (Coleseum) Mitch Mitchell (Jimi Hendrix Experience) Stuart Copeland I could go on and include more people like Allan Ganley (jazz drummer) but I won't. All the above are/were superior to any of today's drummers. Modern day drummers (with the exception of very few) aren't drummers, they just crash bang wallop as hard and as fast as they can without knowing any of the basic rudiments.
