V4 2021 Multistrada V4 (post Info) Buying Survey

  1. (Basically Gary O hates the bike and I think he wants everyone to be sure he knows so...)

I'm still waiting to actually see one and ride one, and then I can make up my own mind.

  2. Why don’t you put each other on ignore?

  3. I agree everyone can have an opinion, but why be so negative about the new bike, it is what it is now, why not just wait and see after a few of us have test rides for real and proper informative reviews, why not be happy for someone that has taken the initiative to buy the new V4, things are quickly changing in the automotive world, emissions for one, tighter and tighter making it more difficult for the manufacturers, Ducati have probably invested huge amounts of money in the development of this new bike, so lets wait and see!!!

  4. Sounds like someone may have a deposit down on one??:laughing:

I have seen it in the flesh and it does look much better than I thought it would
Bloody big front wheel and skinny rear. Didn't like the look of that.
As in earlier post, they can wrap anything. Maybe wrap the 19" front wheel in a 17" wrap! See, all good ideas come eventually. Genius :upyeah::joy:

  5. As people have already said, everyone has an opinion on this bike development and of course their opinion is relevant and valid.
That said, on face value based on the Leeds photos, this V4 model continues to make me utterly bemused in terms of its design deficiency. This thing looks absolutely awful to me STILL...:sob::poop:
I will have a viewing at some point in the future, when of course we are able to after this lockdown phase, however, unless if appears significantly different 'in the flesh' as it were, I doubt my opinion will change much, if at all.

  6. Sacrilege !!!! Burn him !!! You aren't allowed to say that as its got Ducati stamped on it and the snowflake fanboys will be out with their torches and pitchforks and many hurt feelings :joy:

  7. It does get a bit boring. Rather than the non likers keep going on about it, they should be finding a bike they do like instead.

The V4 isn't a great looker but if its brilliant to ride i can forgive it that.

Like there is no point marrying Kylie if she is useless in bed.:D

  10. Looks very agile in that video.

There was another video following this of one being received at Ducati Essex. The guy said it was so light to push about and it wheelies so easily.

  11. Multistrada V4 vs Multistrada V2
Here's a detailed side by side comparison review in PDF (attached) from a guy in France that own a 1200 DVT.
I think the guy was relatively unbiased but you can be the judge.
His review is very well written with great photos and worth the read.
The PDF is in French but I've summarised it as best I could.

The spoiler comes as no surprises.
    Looks goes to the V2
Gadgets & electronics goes to the V4
    Handling goes to the V2
Tourers will prefer the V4 engine: linear and predictable (he didn’t touch-on service intervals but that's a given)
Sport riders will prefer the V2 engine: explosive and exhilarating

    Additional comments by the author.
Sound is disappointingly soulless vs the V2 [but he has a full Termi] (grain of salt here) however and also vs the SFV4 engine.
    Should have had two versions:
A Regular V4 ( as it is now) but with shaft-drive
A Sport "Pikes Peak" like V4 with SSSA, Ohlins and 17" wheels.

Ps. The author didn't comment about weight and height however, looking at the bikes together, there's an unmistakable size difference.
On this note, he did mention that the V4 offers more legroom for his 6'1" stature.

    Screenshot from 2021-01-12 10:24:51.png

    He went on to conclude:
Would this V4 replace his V2?
As a touring guy, perhaps if he can get past the looks.
Had there been a PP version, Yes, no question.

    Pros:
    Easy to ride and efficient.
Motor is very linear, perfect for its designed use (but is it really better
    than competition?).
Good ergonomics for comfort that's conducive for touring.
Top-Notch electronics as usual, not intrusive yet configurable.

    Cons:
Aesthetics sacrificed for efficiency, it will take time to accept it or not.
The search for perfection has erased its previous character.
19 rims says farewell to sport tires.

  12. V4 has a shorter wheelbase than the V2.

  14. There’s more to handling and geometry than wheelbase. For example, the V2 has less steering head rake.

Regardless, this is the longest bench-racing thread I’ve seen in a while.
