Was/am looking for a 749r or should I look at a 05+ 749s?

  1. The bike is to be used for trackdays and sunny rides, what were the main mods to the 05 onwards 749's? I read it as 749r heads/titanium valves?

Is there a Definitive list of what mods were made to the 05 onwards ones? what sort of rear wheel bhp do they make?

There was a cheap 749r on ebay but I found it was cheap for a reason so the search goes on. A 998 Fe would be nice too.

  2. The post-05 749s models will make around 120bhp at the rear wheel with a good setup.

A 749r makes around 130 ish bhp at the rear wheel, tbh I went for a 07 749s (built late 06 according to the marks) and put a 57mm 2-1-2 super sport system on it rather than spending the extra on a r for as I expect to but the miles on it and track it a fair bit.

  3. A 749R doesn't make 130. It's 118bhp at the crank iirc.

  4. +1 to that.

  5. At the wheel

  6. My offer of some graph paper and a red crayon is still up for grabs.....

  7. There is only one 749r to have and that's the 04 model.from 05 they lost the carbon fibre fairings.

now and then I think about selling mine as it hardly gets used these days, but if a good offer came along I may get tempted.

  8. 118 for the 2004, and 121 for the 2005 if the following is anything to go by - so there is a benefit of having a plastic one!!

    Ducati

2005 a lot lighter as well?

  9. I prefer the shape of the 05 fairing. Would be a difficult decision for me.

  10. What were the engine mods to the 05 749r against the 04 749r?

The only 'S' id go for is the 05 onwards, same for the 999.

  11. The only changes between 04 and 05 were carbon to plastic fairings for 05 and Ducati went

from quoting wet weights to dry weights and

rear wheel bhp to crank bhp

so as to be the same as other manufacturers.

  12. So, only 3bhp lost from crank to rear wheel?

  13. The only difference between the two bikes on that link is the Revs one is at 10500 the other at 8750.
