Was a good feeling to see it like this today, new bolts in the lower yoke all new bolts for upper to go in tomorrow once the headstock it’s torqued, front wheel in, tyres on really happy with how it’s coming together. Annoyingly can’t get the shock sorted at the moment. Anyone got an old knackered rear shock I can buy? Just want something to pop in there until mine is done
Looking sweet With my beady-eyed, cautious engineer hat on I'd say watch out for the nut clip that looks not fully 'home'. I expect you've not fully torqued it up yet tho'....
A few more little bits on and in place, brakes on and torqued. Yoke torqued time to bring it home before I can’t get it down from upstairs at work
Need some help... the fairings that came with my bike were non gen and I want the new ones to have all the right bolts in the right places, the Allen bolts on each side fairing can someone give me the size and how they are fastened from the back? Or we’ll nut etc? I only have the non gen items to work with thank you in advance!
Small update but one I’m pretty happy with, cut out switch was looking very sorry for itself, turns out all the ktm enduro bikes that come through my old mans work have a similar one abs they get removed! Straight swap for just the button as I didn’t want it to look out of place! Excuse the horrible stainless Allen bolts. In the process of swapping them all for original ones! also new pinch bolts for the forks...
Few little bits done this evening, got the fuel out the tank, pump out for a well deserved new filter! 2001 stamped on it.... going to pip new hose on there too as it’s a bit swollen makes sense while I’m in there, that also means the tank can get a fresh coat of paint. popped the front fairing and mudguard on to have a look, think I will run my carbon mudguard but nice to see it looking like a bike.
Few small updates, managed to save some of the carbon parts that came off the bike from the dead. Used a tinted clear to get them all looking uniform, that flatted them back and flow coated them. I’m pretty happy for some very tired looking bits now look pretty respectable! got the motor degreased last weekend clutch off, covers off and I have ordered some Cerakote so will be using this for the motor have done a couple of test pieces and they seem to be pretty impressive. Few other little dress up items that I’m happy with also Excuse the screen shots from the carbon items, kind of gives you an idea
My compliments on a great thread and the impressive restoration you're giving this bike. I think a case could have been made for taking this bike out back of the shed to be shot with the condition it was in when you got a hold of it. You deserve a medal from the Ducati Rescue Society!
Been a busy week or so with work, so means progress is slow, the loom nearing completion. And tonight a spent a little bit of time blasting the engine casings ready for cerakote.
Slow progress as work has been so busy the last week. Hoping to get the cerakote done this week once I have all the bits prepared, friend of mine has operated on the loom I’m really happy with it, upgraded earth and power leads for me too
A lovely update for today, pretty much have most of the things to assemble the bike again now, few bits to order from Moto rapido and a few gaskets for the parts I’m cerakoting hopefully this weekend if I get the chance and it should be full steam ahead
