Great thread this @cookster ......can't believe you managed to lay your hands on DJ's bike!!! Toseland bike is amazing too, loved them old Cbr's.....proper little race bike!!
Are you going to bring it up to Shipley for them to see? They have some of DJ’s helmets on show in their showroom.
You do know that Shipley is where the Jefferies family business is based? Or did you think I’d randomly plucked Shipley out of the air https://www.bmw-motorrad.co.uk/allanjefferies-baildon/en/home.html
That’s great that you got hold of that bike. I had the opportunity to meet the great man on a couple of occasions. I did my first ever trackday at Donington in 1999...we persuaded a young lady from work to come along on her Yamaha 600 and all rode to Donny from darn saarf on the day. DJ was at the track testing for Virgin Yamaha having just won his first TT on the V&M R1. Anyway...he ended up going out with this young lady on and off for a couple of years. Invited me and my young family to spend a day in the V&M pit at Brands later that year and gave me a set of used knee sliders from the 99 TT. Lovely man, great shame that he passed away at such a young age.
