What music are you listening to ?

  1. and I always wanted to ask him what the last line of the song meant.. Too late now as I think he's gone sadly. (8th Jan 2017 RIP Peter).

  2. Spandau Ballet - Through the Baricades.

  3. When I listened to it again just now, I thought it ("I know where you go to my lovely, 'cos I can look inside your head") sounded pretty rapey tbh :astonished:

However, the preceding couple of verses refer to them growing up together as "children dressed in rags" in the "back streets of Naples" and there is maybe an implication they'd been in a relationship or at least trying to escape that life together but they'd broken up, after which she'd reinvented herself as a French sophisticate (or maybe she had dumped him in order to leave that other life behind). So through that shared history and intimacy, he knows what she is really like (a reference to "bearing scars deep inside" suggesting she might be quite troubled) underneath the polished and carefree version of herself she presents to the jet set people she hangs with now.

  4. Ha! So you thought it had a creepy edge to it as well. I imagine if it was referring to an axe to the skull, then the line “I can look inside your head” would be literal not figurative. o_O

Perhaps there’s a missing final verse which refers to him bumping her off and then running away to start a new life in north west England, cos he reminds me a fair bit of how my old man looked like back then!

  5. DON'T listen to this if you are susceptible to permeable brain saturation repeatability syndrome.
Hopefully you will just see it as dirge and maintain full cognitive co-operation, but if you like it, even slightly, then you're doomed.. in a Birdiesongsquashedpineapple kinda way..

  6. That is tremendous! Love it.

The Japanese take on heavy metal is certainly better than their efforts at making grime music. Make sure you listen for at least 1 min 10 secs, as the way the vocals drop is “surprising” to say the least

  7. Speaking of grime music.....

  8. Not the first time Baby Metal has been posted on here. Clearly one of their newer ‘songs’ given they are now a trio. Surprising how long the band has been together and IMO, they have a fantastic drummer and a brilliant base player :D Andy

  9. and it was me last time Andy, :) love it to bits myself,

cut to 1.28 mins if a "Fab 4 liker"

  10. 2:28? That’s when the track properly kicks off?

I’m not a big fan of The Beatles (if I’d been around in the 60s I would have sided with The Rolling Stones in that rivalry), but I do like that song.

  11. Not well oiled but they get there in the end.

  15. Robert Whyatt of Soft Machine and Matching Mole on vocals. He was left paraplegic after falling from a widow in like '78, but carried on making music till a few years ago. Still with us, just resting..

  17. The original Burundi Black recording that influenced so many drummers and samples of which appear on so many tracks (Adam and the Ants lifted the whole thing)

  18. Didn’t know whether to post this here or in the “What have you done today” thread
