I just melt every time I see it this bike. I do however have the chance to realise a teenage dream for an older 70’s mistress. Mileage 23,866 Reg’d 12.01.2002 Currently sorned The R was the first Testasretta engined bike in the 916 series, a true homologated bike and in effect a road legal version of the bike that won the 2001 World Superbikes championship. Sand cast engine, Titanium internals and full titanium exhaust, carbon fibre abounds. This is in totally original spec, just as a collector would wish. The only alteration is the addition of a carbon hugger. 500 996R bikes were built. 350 sold immediately overnight on the internet, these were numbered And had a plaque on the top yoke. A further 150 unnumbered bikes were produced for dealer race teams and promotional ventures. Taken aback by the demand, most of these were sold to the public above the £24k purchase price, remember that this is 20 years ago. This is one of those 150 bikes without the plaque on the top yoke and Ducati UK have confirmed this bike to be a genuine 996R. The mileage is low for a 20 year old bike but some might consider it a little on the high for very pedantic collectors. I’ve taken both these factors into account with the price. There are two 996R bikes on eBay at the moment, both priced at £27k and not as original as this one. The bike will be fully serviced prior to collection and will be at Ray Pretty Mechanica, Greenwich, London for viewing. £20,750 will secure you the best model of one of the most iconic bikes ever built. Unless of course you’d prefer to leave your cash in your ISA at @ 0.2%. (NB The bike will be advertised elsewhere)
Another bargain price for a 996r,so it should sell pretty quickly. #Black mirrors as standard and not red ones, only the 998r & the Foggy Rep had them, clutch cover should be in grey metal, also as above a shorter screen.
Karma I suppose, I don’t want to be greedy. I recognise the state of the nation at the mo and it’s priced so that there is a little bit in it for buyer and seller. That’s always the best type of deal. But don’t expect me to move in price though. Mirrors This has been subject to quite bit of FB discussion arguments on both sides, black and red. Actually I’m led to believe that some did have red mirrors, and it might well be something to do with the 150 unplated bikes. Either way, the buyer could compromise and paint one mirror black? But as ever, I’m always happy to be educated.
The mirrors are probably £50/60 for each one and the clutch cover £52ish,so no great shakes in terms of money.
It’s amazing how everything in that clip looks totally out of date, but IMO that bike still looks and sounds as good if not better than anything out today
