Sorry i know this is prob be asked a 1000 times, but wondering what pads people are using? looking at some SBS's which i have had before with no bother but wondering if anyone has used them on their 1299's and how they've found them? thanks folks
Road or track mate? a set of those pink wafer biscuits would still haul up on a 1299. The brakes are mega! For track I’m a big fan of Brembo z04’s. I’ve run them on the road but it’s overkill. They’re the best all rounder I’ve used. They last ages, stop brilliantly and above all else are totally consistent throughout the wear. I.E you’ve got mega stoppers new and that carry’s on until the backing plate.
Most of the decent brands do a good fast road pad mate. Brembo and sbs are both good brands. For example. The stock set up isn’t bad at all, so anything up from that won’t hurt. I ran at the front end of the fast group on mine on totally stock everything - again for example. They’re capable! I would tend to go for something sintered to a degree and not too hard of a compound so you have a nice balance between initial bite and them not turning to chewing gum when they get hot
I've mainly used the stock Brembo pads (07BB37SA) - brilliant on road and pretty good on the track. The last year or so used the race pads (07BB37RC) - which are better on the track - stop harder and don't fade - but on the road when cold do date a moment to heat up then come in really hard Normally shop around and buy them from couple of suppliers in europe on ebay. About £80 a pair for SA's and £105 for RC's - brexit may put paid to that though???
