Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Pafantom, Jan 30, 2021.

  1. Hello
    i need advice
I put the bike into first gear and get a friend to sit on the bike with the rear brake on.
I use long tube but nut wont to move and start unscrew.
Now i am asking is it possible that the nut on sprocket side is a opposite direction than on the wheel side.
    thanks

  2. Thread moved and someone will be along shortly, I’m sure, who’ll be able to help.

But in the meantime why don’t you introduce yourself properly in the newbies section too :)

  3. Nope, it undoes the usual way. You just aren't strong enough!
Seriously though, it's a right bastard to get off and you'll have more success with an impact gun. Failing that, take it to local tyre shop and ask them to rattle it off for you.

  4. Battery impact gun, I have a DeWalt cordless 950 nm one.
Cheaper lower powered one's will do the job.
There is a thread somewhere on here all about it.

  5. Rattle gun. The cheap ones will do the job.

    Money well spent.

  6. Rattle gun all day long, much easier, mine is the Clarke CEW1000, no skinned knuckles or bad words involved.

  8. Yes it's tight (230Nm ±5%) but make sure you grease the threads before reinstalling.

  9. :punch:
I tried longer tube, than borrowed impact gun from friend.
    Bastard want get out.
I called my mechanic and he told me that he would come to my house because my motorcycle is not in running condition, because I am waiting for spare part ((bush for Rear shock absorber)), typical problem for Multistrada.
He told that hi have special tool for that problem. The name is a HAMMER. :punch::)

  10. If you have bought one of those special ducati multi fit sockets that is made of aluminium, you will be fighting that as well. You really need a steel socket IMO so it does not absorb any of the force needed to crack that bastard!

  13. You might need to get a new nut after all this abuse of it.

  14. Major torque level impact wrench is needed to get these nuts off really. Also need an impact socket. Some high end battery wrenches might get there, but generally it needs to be pneumatic or electric to have the grunt
