I’ve just had an email from Sygic offering :- Sygic Travel Premium is now on sale for just 9.99 USD* instead of the usual 19.99 USD. It comes with a reliable itinerary planner, worldwide offline maps, 20 million places, 360° videos, hotels, tours, activities and more. It’s a one time purchase. Available only in the mobile apps for Android and iOS. Limited time only, offer expires January 31, 2021. I thought what the heck, half price, might as well download and have this etc, But..... the first thing after the “one time purchase” that it leads you to is another purchase for. SYGIC GPS Navigation & Maps. Having read the app comments / complaints and some suggestions that this isn’t lifetime as you have to pay for new map updates and there’s annual subscriptions and it’s nearly £50 a year on an iPhone but Android is £16.50 lifetime?..I won’t be bothering.. Ducati’s backed the wrong horse. Stick with Garmin
Hi Steelboss, that extra expense is for more then the 3 map updates per year, I have subscribed the same as you late last year and have already had an email to say updated maps available for download, the extra subscription I think is for if you want monthly updates, which for me is a waste money, will manage, I have still got my Garmin 595LM though just incase!!
Will maps function not work with google maps....seems the easiest solution to me ....BUT I'm no expert!
The whole Google thing is a sore point after they decided to charge the apps a lot more for access if they used the google planning function. Andy
Oh I have no doubt it shall work...sometimes. Then it will stop ...then this fucntion shall not be available....then that...Like the tech mug I am I shall give it a go but after the first 5 drop outs and lock ups i shall bail .
I will give it all a go modern technology, I am going to get an ULTIMATEADDONS phone holder to fasten to the bars to run along side it as a back up!! Failing that the trusted Garmin 595 will be fastened back on.
