999 Forged Wheels

IIRC, not a huge amount. Aftermarket, something like OZ, will give you a lighter option. Andy

ive been busy, bought another race bike, rebuilt my rsv and now looking at new wheels for the r1(which im trying to sell)

I have had a 749 and now a 749R. Big difference in performance. Modern forged wheels will be lighter than forged wheels designed almost 20 years ago though

 

These are the early R wheels, the later ones have thinner spokes so they may be slightly lighter.

 

The numbers don’t tell the whole story. I am surprised the difference is that small.

in practice, I do track days with my mates, one of whom has a 999 and is a better rider than me. That said, at Aragon or BRNO he could never get through the chicanes as quickly as I could. I would always catch him or pull away from him. So much so he just bought a pair of forged aluminium wheels for his 999. I use a 1299 base model on track with BST Carbon fibre wheels and those make a big difference too.
