Gopro Alternative

  1. I’ve recently had trouble with GoPro and have decided to look at other action cameras that are available, does anyone have any advice on decent bike mounted cameras for track days that are not GoPro? Thanks.

  2. Drift Ghost, any model. More aerodynamic and easier to attach.

Bounced mine down the road at 60-70mph. Still works fine.

  3. As above. used Drift cameras for many years. Very happy with them all. Helmet and bike mounted. Never needed to buy waterproof case for them either. Mine have worked fine in all weathers without the optional case.

  4. Thanks for the reply, I will look at them...

  5. Me and my Ghost X are not getting on well. Once on, pressing the record button frequently causes a shut down. Not ideal when they are calling your group. The lens also has a habit of turning during a session.

  6. I had lots of issues with GoPro, when they couldn’t repair or replace the last time it broke they refunded me and I bought a Garmin Virb, just slide the on switch to start it recording, its got a little screen and it connects to my Sat Nav for remote starting and stopping; you can even mount it on a friends bike and turn it on and off from yours.

  7. My Garmin Virb was brilliant, until it wasn't. A serious hardware fault rendered it unrepairable. I had a Sena as well that conked out. Only brand I have not used is GoPro.

These action cameras are amazing, just not very durable on track bikes.

  8. Drift Ghost, if you can get the 4K model, you need at least 30fpm to be able to get satisfactory screen shots off.

  9. 60 frames per minute?

  10. Contour HD whatever there latest is..

  11. DJI OSMO ACTION, THE BEST

  12. I’ve actually been looking at the reviews on these cameras... thanks for the reply

  13. Is there one which has integrated stabiliser ala MotoGP? I can settle with just the horizontal axis.

  14. An American chum of mine has a Rylo 360 camera which you can use to show MotoGP style overtakes

  15. Horizontal stabilisation on the Rylo 360 is just what I'm after, too bad it looks to be discontinued. Know of any other cams with this feature?

  16. Without sounding stupid how does it switch to front view after the two bikes pass ? Auto or does the guy do it ?

  17. It records in 360 degrees and then you control the viewpoint with an app
afterwards when you make an edit to share.

it has a function called ‘follow object’. Not sure if it’s still for sale though and it was only available in the USA at the time

  18. Just a heads up if anyone here rides with an “organised” group (like the Ducati owners club) you will be asked to switch off your camera before riding with the group, as this could incriminate riders should the ride become spirited, let’s say.
