No surprise there. I think it was extremely optimistic (or naive depending on your viewpoint) of the organisers to aim for racing this year in the first place. Hopefully this delay isn’t going to be a nail in its coffin. Andy
Genuinely have not invested any time being excited about this happening, I really don't think it will. Sad if it's Covid that's cause it but I seriously doubted it would get off the ground. In the Scottish borders they wanted to do a road race and even had studies done on projected income for the area etc, and still that didn't get further, yet this seems to have got to a stage where they claimed it was running with minimal extra fuss, maybe it's just Isle of White rules versus scotland, I dunno.
When you think that the TT brings in about £50 million for the local economy ,its not hard to see the attraction for the IOW,i for one am keeping positive for this .
That is as maybe but the IoW does not have the motorcycle racing pedigree or history nor could the IoW cope with the number of people that attend the TT, they simple do not have the infrastructure. Andy
IOW has yachts and Cowes already. That’s a struggle and numbers are nothing like those for IOM TT. Maybe more like the Manx.
true, true the thing was that 250,000 ticketed for the event the rest just invited themselves. The Island infrastructure coped with it though, a truly memorable happening.
yes everything today is much more doable, except the will and vision of entrepreneurs and local authorities.
Seriously. This is comical. It’s like Red Ken saying Thatcher had a good idea with poll tax to see you be positive AND praise entrepreneurs! In the 70’s you could get 90k people in villa park, 200k plus in the old, smaller Wembley.....try that today Plus risk assessments, r]road furniture being adjusted, temp laws for the speed, insurance cost against death of participants and/or spectators. Not to mention Mrs `Miggins objections to having those noisy smelly things whizzing past her precious gnomes
Steady Tiger i haven't praised Entrepreneurs, an evil necessity as long as they don't get greedy.........
bradders Villa haven’t had 90k fans since they were established, gonna have to call bull shine on that. Everything else in your statement stands.
