1200 DVT 5 Year Desmo Service

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Vtwin4fun, Feb 11, 2021.

  1. Hi all, looking for recommendations for a trustworthy place to get my desmo service done on my 2016 dvt. Was thinking moto technica but he's not doing servicing anymore. Don't mind travelling and making a mini trip out of it too. Just need to know it's done right as have read various stories about it not being done right.
I live near Darlington for reference.
    TIA

  3. Cheers. Interesting that they quote themselves as the only UK based approved service centre too. Should give me peace of mind although I'm now wondering what the cost will be.
I was originally thinking it might have to be ducati Glasgow as I don't want to take it to the more local place in Newcastle. But this one could be my new choice.

  4. Nelly is a Ducati approved service centre and only does servicing. His reputation is peerless and the upside is, you get your Ducati stamp in the service book. Andy

  5. Yep just spoke to Nelly and sounds like a top bloke and also mentioned that at 5 years I only need oil/filter and belts so not the full desmo which halves the price. Win win. Now just need to get to the end of lockdown.

  6. How come it doesn't the full Desmo service at 5 years?

  7. Valve check is on mileage, not time. Andy

  8. As Android says the valves are determined by mileage and not age so a bit to go before that has to be done. Although planning on riding a whole lot more once we're allowed.

  9. Ah good news, thought it was time and/or mileage.

  10. Oh that’s good to know as my bike will be 5 years old in June but done way less than the mileage to have the valve clearance checked, spreads the cost a little.

  11. Italia Moto in Lincoln are good too. A nice ride out on a loan bike away from a cuppa at Cadwell while the work is done... :)

Although, lockdown and current restrictions rather bugger that up. Italia are still good though. :upyeah:

  13. So what has happened to Moto Technica? As far as I knew he was an approved independent.

  14. Looks like he’s just an independent now. Searched the Ducati authorised service agent list and he doesn’t come up but he is still in Nelson according to the internet. Andy

  15. Moto Technica are now concentrating more on selling bikes than service. Lee does sell some mint used bikes if you're on the look out though.
There's only me left now as approved service only.
