thanks chaps, disk bulge i think, i'm hoping a)it's nothing more serious, b) that it's bad enough that they'll put me under the knife.... Been over a year on and off, but mainly on since November, and i've been in bed since boxing day despite all the painkillers - literally been working from bed (off my face) in meetings etc with a virtual backdrop of an office, although having seen the court tape from the US last week i might see if i can be a cat next week... if you haven't seen it
A little bit nippy out there this morning, but i can't imagine what climbers go through on Mount Everest.
About to enter the world of home brewing. My Greater Good Brewing Company “Pinter” has arrived and my first brew will be a pub style IPA. Going to take 4 or 5 days to brew followed by 3 or 4 days to condition. According to the brewing tips, an extra day brewing improves the depth of flavour and an extra day conditioning improves the clarity. Not sure I can wait but I’ll give it a go. Not sure 10 pints will last that long between two of us but if it’s a success, I’ll treat myself to another Pinter body so I can have one brewing and conditioning whilst there is one to tap. If it’s really successful, I’ll invest in a third so one brewing, one conditioning and one being drunk. Rugby later with shop bought beer, nibbles and our second cheese selection box from the Cheese Geek. Andy
Got a home brew kit myself at Christmas Brew Dog Punk IPA Haven’t got around to giving it a go as yet, so I’ll be interested in seeming how your works out. Have you done this before?
I remember when Home Brew was "thing" -both wine & beer. I used to knock off my fathers to take and drink with the lads whilst still at school. I guess the pub of Mum & dad was a precursor of the the bank by the same name. Vague memories of bread tasting brews, all cloudy which induced farting. It got us hammered though. Wasn't it a common problem for the bottles to explode all over the place whilst fermenting?
Well I did mine this morning. Just waiting for the filter to dry out before I put it all back together again. Hope I haven’t bolloxed it. This morning I was asked by my daughter in law up in Scotland if I could write up, with ‘authentic biker terminology’ (her words), how someone could make a ‘getaway’ from a robbery on a motorbike as she’s 50,000 words already into writing her first fictional novel. She’s already been published a few times over the past 15 years or so but they are medical books, and she’s always hankered after writing a thriller.
No. The Pinter was my birthday present so an adventure. The Greater Good brewing philosophy is a little bit different. Only 10 pints but a max 2 week brew/conditioning time in a self contained dispenser. Andy
I remember when I was about 18, we used to go to a friends house who's dad made home brew. It was awful, but he insisted we had a pint when we went round. We were sat on the sofa one night and the power went off and it was completely dark. His dad put money in the metre and when the lights came on my mates glass was empty. When we left I asked how he drank it so quick. He said when the lights went off, he tipped it behind the sofa
