Chucked the oil and filter on the M1100S. Another green “tick” on the whiteboard. Moved the black 749R into the “maintenance area” ready to attack the list of jobs on the whiteboard (C&S, belts, oil&filter).
Brake and clutch fluid change on my Pani R. Brake fluid was good and clear but clutch fluid was full of crap.
I finally traced an issue finding neutral on the Multistrada to the clutch master cylinder. I seal kit service later, everything was back to normal. One of the seals had gone hard and the cylinder had a lot of gloop in it just like in the line in your picture. Andy
Thanks Andy. I took it round the block afterwards and clutch was fine. Neutral has been ok to find when bike is hot. Less so when cold. Be interesting to see if the fluid change helps. The crap stopped pretty quickly after the initial dollop of gloop and the fluid was a reasonable colour (not black like on the V4s).
Finally got the Tuono set up by a professional, he suggested that I should stay away from suspension set up going forward. Cheeky bastard!!!
Turns out fitting a K-TECH shock bro a GSXR750k8 requires the rear brake reservoir to be re-homed. Which was news for K-TECH and their reseller.
999 wouldn't start so called in the RAC home recovery, worth phoning ahead to On yer Bike to check they are there, they are open but can't touch anything for a month. Patience is a virtue
Took half the fairing off the 600ss and ordered some new well nuts as the originals are not very rubbery - to be fair they are 26 years old!
I eventually got round to calling them up just now and tbh it wasn't a great experience. For starters, the woman who answered the phone seemed most put out that I'd phoned rather than ordering online and obviously couldn't wait to get me off the phone as she was already halfway to telling me that they don't have the parts I needed even before I told her what I wanted! A bit like the horrible florist I encountered on Valentines Day. Good old British customer service........
Fitted new bar ends that I bought from a fellow forum member and blanks for the other ends that I bought from off of the internet
Fitted the custom brake hoses to the S2r, several times in fact so I could get them looking right. I gave up trying to bleed them after a while as one hose sits slightly above the master cylinder banjo so is probably still full of air. Tomorrow's job will to be bleed them properly
Drained and flushed 748’s cooling system ready for a spring and summer of spanking. Ducati 748/9** coolant - the gift that keeps on giving (drip, drip, gush. Rinse and repeat etc).
Tried out a cheapie polishing kit on Staintune exhaust system, works okay but will run out of compound before finished.
Checked it over to see if I needed to mention anything when it gets picked up and got the service book out in readiness. Arranged to go for ride on the Scrambler on Monday.
