  1. That looks tiny.

  2. No trellis frame, has the world gone mad!

  3. That looks like it were made in Japan:(

  4. We should be so lucky!
But, I am not seeing anything special. It might spec up well tho, time may tell...

  5. I'm test riding the Black on black monster 1200s on Tuesday. Been without two wheels for 5 weeks now so can't wait for the new version !!

  6. TBH it looks tiny, you don't think Ducati are going down the route like other european manufacturers and building small capacity mass market bikes by third party factories in India or Asia?

  7. Well that looks very tedious

  9. They are mostly unimpressed.

  10. None of them have even seen this bike in the flesh nor ridden it. I don't really have an opinion but it does look good on paper, good power, nice and light, reasonably techy and priced...if it sounds like a ducati and rides nicely, isn't that the important bit?

  11. If a Ducati doesn’t have a V twin engine and/or a trellis frame is it still a Ducati?

Whatever next? Water cooled Porsches, God forbid!

  12. As long as they are produced to a Ducati design they are, I don’t much like the newer shape Monster but I doubt at my age I’m Ducati’s target. I think my next new bike will be the Husqvarna Norden should funds ever allow.

I think it’s called progress, I guess we get stuck on how objects should ‘look’ and can’t/don’t appreciate a change.

The engine configurations are mostly down to regulations imposed on manufacturers I hazard a guess at.

  13. I accept the points above that (1) we have not ridden it and (2) it is new and everyone gets attached to the old.
But I still think that it looks to ordinary - too unremarkable :(
So tedious that it makes the SV650 look interesting.
The engine is no worse than the 1200 and 821 = an ugly mass of plastic covers but the frame trellis and the exhaust make those remarkable,

  14. Ah, I didn’t mean it literally. I meant it in the vein of “If a tree falls in a forest but nobody is there to hear it...” ;)

  15. Too many people seem to like living in the past. The new Monster is aimed at a younger rider according to the designer.
And the specs are spot on to compete in the Street Triple RS, KTM 790/890.
I must confess before I bought my Street RS, I tried 797, 821 and 1200 Monsters as I liked the look. But the only one I would have spent my money on was the 797, the other two were dull to ride imho. The 797 just lacked horse power but was a fun ride.

My Street Rs is fun to ride and still has plenty of go. The new Monster's specs suggest it should be pretty close to the Triumph.

  16. How do you it fell and wasn’t pushed? Kinda thing;).

A little like a company is being stolen from but doesn’t know it has a theft problem therefore there is no theft? :)

  17. This bike could be the best ride ever created ..... And I still wouldn't buy one it is butt ugly, covered in plastic engine looks like it came from an AirFix kit, everything about it is wrong, looking at it side on it even looks like its been crashed already.
