I'm interested in getting a set of these liners. saves carrying the case into the hotel every night ! Ducati ones must be expensive I assume, but several options on eBay from the aftermarket. These seem to look good (and one of the slightly dearer options) , and made for the odd internal shape of the RHS case which some are not: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PANNIER-...200-from-2015-1260-950-from-2017/192861327960 Anyone have any opinions on these ? Thanks
Never had those but I had some pattern ones that were very well made and were more practical than the Ducati ones. More pockets and better thought out.
Liners are def the way to go. Like Siddo the ones I bought were similar to those but iirc maybe a few quid less. Those look well made. My eBay purchase history is no longer storing purchase history that far back otherwise would have shared a link. Now to the important part - what exotic destination are you planning to head off to?
My touring plans will seem very tame to the more experienced travellers here... This summer, planning Wales and maybe back to Cornwall. September after kids go back to school and Covid allowing, France to see the Normandy beaches. 2022.... down through France, over the Alps (suggestions for scenic routes appreciated. Like to spend a night in a hotel in the mountains too) and into Italy. Must do Scotland as well at some point !
I always use liners in top box and panniers. I bought these for my panniers which are much the same https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pannier-Liner-Inner-Luggage-Bags-To-Fit-DUCATI-MULTISTRADA-1200-Red-Pair-Bike/292518924484?_trkparms=aid=1110006&algo=HOMESPLICE.SIM&ao=1&asc=20201210111314&meid=d1da76f169af492abe0e83cc0fe28680&pid=101195&rk=1&rkt=12&mehot=pf&sd=192861327960&itm=292518924484&pmt=1&noa=0&pg=2047675&algv=SimplAMLv9PairwiseUnbiasedWeb&_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851
I went ahead and ordered the ones of ebay. £45 with postage Will do a report on them when I can test them out. Thanks for the info guys
Damn, I have a pair of those same ones for sale. Good bags, if anyone else is interested (£30 posted) let me know, used on two trips
I have been using a set of these for years, very squishable and easy to pack and to carry. Held 9440 Saddlebag Inner Bags - GetGeared.co.uk
I have these for my 1260 as well as the top-case one from the same company. Decent quality and built to last but at a very good price. They will take up a little space, compared to packing into bare cases, but the overall carrying capacity of a kitted out Mutley should be more than enough. What they take away in this regard pales into insignificance compared the added convenience. I bought some expensive fancy (colour coordinated) Italian ones for the MV Turismo I owned before the 1260. These were a bit feeble with one seam being poorly stitched and giving way on the first tour. The Great Bikers Gear ones are far superior and can be abused secure in the knowledge that they're cheap to replace if they do get damaged. Quite frankly I don't think that's going to happen though. One other convenience that I now use when touring is packing cubes, cheap enough off of eBay and help to organise your packing inside of the pannier.
I'm a big fan of packing cubes and have been for years, so much easier to sort all your clothes and gear.
We use vacuum storage bags. Even using a small, plastic hand pump to evacuate them, you save an enormous amount of space. Costco had a box of mixed sizes on special offer a while ago and the medium and small sizes are ideal for pannier liners. Andy
I use cubes and they are very good for camping, however if you was registering at a hotel reception and carrying things to your room i imagine the pannier bags would be very handy, unless of course you put the cubes into carrier bags - i guess that would be OK
I have these 5 years ago, and without problems, they are not the originals but they do the service perfectly, and they have more than 40k in their history https://es.aliexpress.com/item/3296...earchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_
Yes cubes in bags of course! I used to travel a lot for work and discovered them after chatting with some of the American guys on the crew I worked with. They were hard to get hold of in those days but much easier now. Took me almost 10 years to convince my wife to try them!
I bought some of those. I found them easy to use, great for pulling out of the panniers and taking into hotels. The only thing I would say is they could fit a bit more snugly into the panniers. They leave a bit of space around them here and there. Consequently I tend to ram little things into this spaces, like small cans of chain lube or easily crushable layers that I’ve taken off during a days ride as it’s warmed up. Generally I’d say good kit though. Especially like that the right hand one is shaped to go into the cavity above the exhaust. For the money I think you’ll be happy. If you have a top box let me know, I have a different solution.
I'm ashamed to admit, I've never heard of packing cubes before, let alone ever seen one. For those answering this thread above, please point me in the right direction, as to favoured types.
