So got a fairly free list (to my pay grade) and looking at a mix of neighbour envy and cost to run (mpg) with a big sprinkle of comfort as I do c40k miles pa choices are.... * Merc C class saloon - even specced cheap as chips as could be 55mpg at the daisy pace I drive these days * C class coupe...slightly more exciting but same motor etc so is it that different?! Cost a bit more too..especially with big pan roof * Evoque 2wd...can I really get 45mpg if I do mostly m'way driving at 65-70mph? Ok looks a bit of a girls car but I like it and comes well loaded * 520D...had 2 before, love em, but if I can get 45 from Evoque costs same and rather have something different Opinions welcome, but likely ignored if I don't like them Have discounted Q5/3 too juicy and spec crap, X3 Mpg and old tech, 3 series coz its a poor 5 (altho they cost the same!) and 3 coupe being discontinued this month, XF stupid tax cost, all Audi look same in saloon or coupe version
Sod that for a plan - take the allocation, top it up a bit, and get something tasty! Google Image Result for http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d0/2010-2011_Ferrari_458_Italia_coupe_(2011-03-23)_03.jpg Couple of grand a month. Compared to running a Duke it will be about the same as an annual maintenance bill!
Back in the real world, we are having to do the same and that's not managed to make it only my shortlist either. Shame. Had it come with a towbar.......
2355. Friday night . Beered up. Start bidding on eBay and see what you've got sat am. Go on , you know you want to. That Granada engined fibre glassed body Ferrari replica will look quite sensible! In the cold light of day......
So what mainstream isn't boring? 2.2l = +43mpg, sub 2l 50mpg...nice brand...otherwise free. Fill yer boots PP , what am I missing
Your right they are all boring, I am seriously struggling to think of something and I like cars aswell. As for neighbour envy any new car should work. I do like the xf but it would have to be the 3 litre diesel for your mileage as the 2.2 doesn't quite cut it with one exhaust. Can you down grade and have some money for another bike ?
There's a garage down the road that has a shit brown y reg( the old y reg) Astra for sale. Bargain price of £5 k and she's yours..... I kid you not. Give me the nod and ill put the link up for you!!! hth
All dull as dish water, meaning you will end up with a dark grey 520d with professional salt nav blah blah blah. I did! Next time round - golf gt tdi and pocket the difference on allowance and tax. Pays for losts of biking fun.
When I chopped in my BMW 5 series I just got a Mondeo. It put over £300 a month into my pay packet because of the reduced tax implications.
DS5? Executive type car, not many around and a great looking car?! My C4 has 73k on it in just two years and has been the most reliable company car I've had. Nothing wrong with a bit of French
I have considered the downgrade option, TDI GT nicely specced saves a bit, but tbh my only 'luxury' (incl bikes) is a nice car to munch the miles in. And a C Class saloon would cost me similar money as its ver 2l so higher claim per mile. Problem with many more exciting cars, 330d 3 series coupe for example, not only tax but too hard a ride for the miles I do. Has to waft along not shake my fillings out 90% of the time for the 10% of time I'm on the back road rallies. Off to do a dealer crawl with he missus, she does have an interest (yeah right) then on o pick van I've bought up. Want no more than a 3 month leas rime max, and hoping if I'm flexible with colour I can get something sooner. Gotta have pan roof tho, whatever (going to drag her ngo Audi too to have a look at a TT, shame my lad wont fit that well in the back)
Would the company fund a Ducati? One of my friends rides a company bike. I met her once, she seems a nice enough lass....
