The one time I’d like to buy something off the forum and it’s too large (instead of too small). Would have been a great present for Carole. GLWS Andy
I have one of these in the same size - great helmet. I’m a 59cm head size and while getting it on is a big tight once it’s on it’s pretty much perfect if that helps anyone.
For those interested and having owned 2 previously, these do come up tight. But as with everything, try on for your own satisfaction. My first was an M but the 2nd was an L.
But why didn't you buy one or are you just rubbishing the lid to appear interesting? Genuinely curious as to what you learnt.
I really wanted a 903. In fact it was my first chouce for a new carbon helmet but was not impressed with how it was put togheter. I wanted to know if it was just me. My next pick is an HJC carbon.
I've been using the 803-RR for about 4 years now, stood the test of time better than my previous Shoei lid on which vent covers snapped off. I think the quality is on a par with more expensive helmets, the only negative i've found is its a little noisier, ear plugs can combat this though. Ventilation is top drawer and the fit is still snug after all this time. Also I think that Alex Rins races in a Nolan branded X-Lite, not sure he would put up with shabby quality.
so.... what specifically was it that you didn't like about the construction and/or materials? what parts of the helmet are sub par? I've got an Xlite 803 RS ultra carbon (chaz davies rep) and I'm more than happy with it, it's significantly better than the AGV that it replaced. it's quieter, fits better, lighter, the field of vision is better as well as the visor feel/operation - i.e the detents and release mechanism.
They're an amazing lid and I usually go for Arai. They weigh sod all, but can be a bit noisy at speed. Really comfy and easy to adjust the vents and visor with gloves on. I'm tempted and i've already got one lol
