New car time

  1. Not really fitting to my job, suit and tie brigade, and the running costs of 60k a year (as I'd use it far more privately!!) of a Mutley may scare the fleet manager stupid

but would still be cheaper than the company bike :upyeah:

  2. I mentioned the bike option because I bumped into an old friend recently.

He's running a Triumph Trophy SE for business use. He wears trousers, shirt & tie under an aerostitch fabric suit & changes into shiny shoes/jacket etc when he reaches the venue for his meeting. He reckons there is plenty of room in the panniers & topbox for laptop & whatever else he may need. He went for the Triumph because he wanted the weather protection from the fairing & shaft drive to avoid the mess of lubing a chain on long business journeys.

  3. Go for the Evoque, I'm sure plenty of us would come to you for our haircuts

  4. Looking at the pics, all I'd need was some clippers and head moisturiser

  5. The old man has a 520d estate. Like you he likes to 'waft' along. Dealer looked a bit funny at him when he asked to downgrade the wheels so he could have a more comfy able ride. He easily gets 600miles to a tank, which it loads better than my A6.

  6. Also its nice to get a car I cant afford to buy.

  7. Thats it, 520 off the list! Lol

  8. What about the new Mondeo ? But I still reckon you should try an XF.

  9. Mpg isn't your enemy it's BIK :)

  10. Not that much, as I van make a load back n the pence per mile if I get the right mpg/engine mix. All these cars are 108-139 range, but yep as a combination thats what makes the merc so strong.

Front runner after this morning, CLA auto diesel, fire red with pan roof.

  11. And you said the others were boring?! Pmsl. XF BIK and MPG shite and puts out of choice, dont want to spend wedges of dosh, got to leave some for trackdays and maybe racing next year...

  12. the blue waffle !

  13. How about a vw t5 transporter highline Komi, they come standard with all you need, bike in the back happy days, also van envy with the neighbours, every man needs/wants a van.only dead fish go with the flow!

  14. Quote from a friend about the C-class Merc (which he had from 2009 to 2012) "As far as reliability goes - the worst car I've had in over 30 years of driving company cars". He now has a Passat CC and loves it.

  15. Thought I'd get that tbh but seriously there is a gap in the market then, BMW, Mercedes, vw all same glad I have left the company car market. Interested to know your decision when you make it. Like the GS thread though personally I wouldn't have German.

  16. Just about to do the same and swapping the company 520D for a Jag XF 2.2D Sport in Kyanite Blue, pick it up a week today
