  5. Are those lights running around the perimeter?
I built one a while back but I used tensioned wire to support the up-rights, makes for a better unbroken view when looking from the house.

  6. Ducati / BMW / Jaguar connoisseur!

  7. Removed a dead plum tree sucker this morning, bloody thing was about 12’ high and 8” in diameter. The old Stihl has taken a pasting the last couple of weeks so spent the last hour giving it some love and attention. All cleaned, oiled and chain sharpened now for its next outing which won’t be long. Got a large American oak at the bottom of the garden that’s had a hard life and is in dire need of the dead and dying wood removing. That boundary neighbour will be well pleased. Need a bonfire first to get rid of what I removed from the Cob nut a fortnight ago to create the space for more. Lovely day out there, a bit cool but sunny. Looking forward to roast lamb a bit later and there just might be a beer as well :D Andy

  11. Yes they are. I’ll be fitting rope in between the newel posts

  12. I was advised to leave 2-3mm between boards. I’ve left 3mm. There’s 32 LEDs fitted, they’re only 32mm and not overly bright, just enough.

  14. When the boards dry out in the summer the gap will be nearer 6-10mm so you have done the right thing.

  15. Well first thing (6am) I got up as I was wide awake and decided to update my project records for the future, should they be needed commercially. That took a couple of hours. Then took SWMBO a cup of tea in bed, till we got up properly at 8.30am. As ‘stage 1’ of lifting lockdown has begun and she had arranged to meet a friend for a walk at 11am she started to make sandwiches and a flask of coffee to take with her whilst I fannied about on the Internet.

I did consider going out on the Scrambler but the local council have covered the roads in salt these past couple of days so I’d like to see that washed away in the next few days first before venturing out again.

So since SWMBO has gone out I’ve been messing about in the garage starting the bikes and resetting the riding modes and clocks etc.

Just made some lunch for myself and then I think I’ll read a bit of my Bike magazine, watch another episode of ‘Your Honor’ and maybe have a snooze :)

It’s fun, fun, fun here :)

  16. Arguing with myself about need versus want. Having had the professionals in my garden taking a tree down and pruning a 60 some odd year old Magnolia Grandiflora, it was obvious tha Stihl, MS260, 18” bar chainsaw, despite being an awesome bit of kit, is a bit of an overkill. Looked long and lovingly on t’internet at which chainsaw might be best suited to my less than horticulturally challenging needs and sort of decided on a Stihl MS171 or a MS181. After the weekend’s work getting rid of a dead tree that felt like it was iron wood, I decided to pop down to the local Stihl shop to get a new chain for the 260 and have a mooch. Had a long chat with ‘the man’ and reached a cost effective compromise. Don’t need a new chainsaw, just a shorter, 13” bar and chain costing £61 instead of £260 :D Andy
