  1. I agree with you but he has underlying issues which the national rollout aren’t aware of but his surgery is

  2. I had my first jab of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine on Saturday morning.

I still don't know why I was invited a little early for it, I'm 53 with no health issues, although this area is a little ahead of the game apparently.
I asked if it's because Lady Nasher is type 1 diabetic and had hers a few weeks ago, and was told no.
The possibility apparently is that I was invited slightly early because I've not seen a Doctor for so long.
It's the first injection I've had since my vaccinations at school.

Was warned I might have a sore arm for a while, which didn't happen, but the warning of possible mild Flu like symptoms turned in to full on Man-Flu by Saturday evening and prevented me from doing everything I wanted yesterday.
I'll make sure to time the next one for the beginning of the week so any recurrence doesn't ruin my weekend again.

    Nasher.

  3. So you get offered Gloucester - which would be easy-ish for me and the nearest place North that I get is Brum! I even tried to say that my post code was the same as The Vale Hospital in Dursley (where my neighbours have been done) and still the only location north of me is Birmingham (about 70 miles away!). I think the idiot who designed the system was geographically challenged!!!

  4. Mine was Stroud.

  5. It certainly appears to be a bit of a Postcode lottery as to how much choice on venue, timing, and level of 'service' you get.

When my text came through I had the choice of 3 places within 10 miles, 2 of which were less than 5 miles, and all within a week.
And we don't live in a city or town.

I chose a local Baptist church as I thought it would be a little less grim than the local health centre, and comparing notes with Lady Nasher who went to the Health Centre I'm glad I did.

It was run with military precision by a huge army of volunteers who first got you on the road to the car park, directed you to a parking space then directed you swiftly and efficiently through the whole thing.
I was amazed to walk through the process, only stopping for about a 10 second wait for a booth to become free, then of course a quick 2-3 minute sit down whilst questions were asked and the deed was done.
The two ladies in the booth were friendly and efficient, and I have no complaints at all, which sounds slightly more dodgy than it was!

  6. Same. Directed to park. Small Q to check in. Temp check. Straight thru to room. Stabbed in arm and told to sit and wait until the time they wrote on my sticker was done. Probably too 30 min all in.

  7. Lady Nasher had the sticker and wait for 15mins thing.

I was asked if I was driving, and if so I should sit in my car for 15mins and flag down a volunteer if I started to feel unwell.
Those not driving were I assume the group of people sat in a side room on the way out.
Think I was home with a cuppa before the 15mins was up.

  8. This is SO annoying! It's as though I've been identified as "We'll make that f**ker travel!" I just put in my postcode as a Gloucester one and this is what I get back. Although Birmingham is no longer an option as I've moved closer to it!

  9. It does fit into my day though. Severn Trent supply my water and have done since I moved here in '15. I have just replied to a letter saying "Who are you and do you live here, otherwise we'll turn off your supply!" despite me having an account that I can access online and shows a zero balance after them belly-aching that I was using too much water!

  10. Perhaps the same developer is doing the vaccine web site.

  11. Astra-Zenica vaccine yesterday. Feeling a little under the weather today. Aches, light fever...

  12. Just had my letter. I know this opinion is not fashionable nowadays but I really am conflicted with this. I will take it because it seems like the right thing to do and the wife will nag me to death until I do anyway but... I’ve spent 56 years barely ever taking a headache pill, it’s just not in my nature & although I understand all the reasons why, part of me does resent having to do it.
Told you I’d not be popular now o_O

  13. Don't blame you. I wouldn't have bothered, but for the peer pressure and likelihood if you want to travel this year you will have to have it. Regardless of what some of the selfish bastards out there say, choosing not to have this vaccine doesn't make you a tin-hat wearing anti-vaxer!

  14. The madness continues:
I have just had 3 (Yes, Three) texts from the NHS saying that Gloucestershire will be awash with the vaccine next week and I can have it done at my local surgery - but DO NOT call them as they will call me.

Disappointed now. From Bath Recourse to Bristol City FC, but now just my manky local surgery down the road. And administered by a Doctor or Nurse.

I was hoping for a bouncer at Bath Racecourse - where all the men would be waiting in a long queue whilst only women would be allowed in. If a man objected as they would be late for their appointment then the bouncer could offer to fill their face in whilst asking for proof that they are over 18. Failing that, it could of been out-of-work plumbers who, when you revealed your bare arm for the jab, could say, "Offffffffssssssssssssssssssstttt, I haven't seen one of those in years! You can't get the parts y'know. You'd be better off with a whole new arm - I can do one cheaper for cash with no VAT receipt!!".

This whole thing is turning into a disappointment.

Maybe I will even get my driving license back! Nahhhh. That is just going too far!

  16. Yep, I've had two of those texts today as well.

  17. Had the Oxford jab at 13.30 today at the doctors surgery in the next village. There were approximately 50 people in front of me in the queue around the carpark but I was in and out in around 15 minutes.
When I left there were only about 5 in the queue. Very well organised.

Feel ok atm so hopefully will be alright tomorrow as I've got a busy day.

  18. Had mine this morning.

Arm is a bit sore but no other side effects at the moment.

Again the centre was very well organised, you can tell its NHS-run and not some bunch of chancers like Serco.

  19. If you don't feel comfortable than don't have it but everyone knows the risks of not doing so.

  20. I wonder what Doris will say when Dildo is awarded a £22Billion bonus by Serco?
