Hello All Help needed Purchased bike last June 2020 due to uk lockdown not covered many miles. So at the moment the DVT is Dead on ignition power, Key fob has no affect and neither does the ignition button to start with Pin. So the was washed the bike on the Saturday, I used the bike the next day around London to see engineers, during ride the display said low key battery, I ordered 2no Durcell batteries and replaced ... checked all was working fired up fine. Fast forward 2 weeks and I fitted a evo tech lower engine guard and tried to start the bike after and nothing. The Key has no affect and the button has no affect. Changed fob battery for second on that was purchased. I has checked all fuses - All OK Checked relays are seated correct - All ok Checked battery voltage - 13V All OK Removed phone into house Moved bike out of garage and out to road Any one ever had a similar issue ... Does this need to visit main dealer. Any help would be massively helpful ... Thanks in advance
Go for the easy stuff first. Any ground wires disturbed during install? You've got battery voltage across the battery terminals; what about from battery positive terminal to another ground point like the engine?
Thanks for replying ..... I will jump on this in the morning after work, will check the install incase anything was snagged.
My 2017 did a similar thing. It was the main fuse feed at the battery terminal. It had been over tightened causing a fracture in the wire right at the crimp. Give it a wiggle and if the dash lights up, assuming it doesnt just now, that would be a good starting point. Had it been a roadside breakdown a new crimp would have sorted it Downside is I put it into a main dealer which resulted in the bike being off the road for 3 months and having a full new wiring loom fitted.
Hello Columbus Thank you for that I will have a check ... I haven't been fiddling with anything in the tray ... did your just happen randomly? I disconnected the battery and after reconnecting the 2no red flashing lights on the screen started flashing as usual on power down.
It happened when I stopped the bike outside the garage. It wouldn't start again. No dash, nothing would power up. As I said it was the wire where it entered the crimp terminal.
Thank you for that Aero I will have a look to see if this has been completed under a recall, would that stop the complete ignition blank.
Thanks all for the replies .... Multi is in Ducati Chelmsford and has been for a week ... as soon as I know what was up I will let others know ....
Soooo had the dreaded call, they have been on talks with Italian Ducati and the Diagnosis is the hands free unit, so that's gonna leave me £1000.00 lighter. Must say Hysides Ducati Chelmsford have been great with updates. Can't wait to get it back so I can sit n look at it as I will have mo money to fill it up. Have a great weekend
That's a shame, maybe head for the hands free unit as I was sure it was thus from the start. I moved on from the Ducati soon after I got it back .... hopefully the Honda Is more reliable than the Ducati. Hope you get it sorted.
When you say Hands free unit does that refer to the push button unit in front of the tank ? I dont have a problem just might help others know what part it is and possible get a 2nd hand one
