I'm pretty certain that I will buy a KTM, when I get my compensation money and my driving licence sorted. I'm gonna keep my Ducatis and just add the KTM to the collection. I've got dealers in Tewkesbury, Bristol, or Gillingham that I'll visit. I'm interested in the Duke r, but I'll see what takes my fancy when the time comes. I quite like the lack of compromise - no pillion, small tank and everything is about having fun! The modern range of Ducatis don't do it for me... but putting aside my dislike of current stuff, then I would not be surprised at all if I end up with another one. It will just depend on what's around at he time and my mood. Maybe the AZ jab will cure me of indecision!
I think that the DR is bout that as well but the whole point is to be on the back wheel all of the time!
Jab next week and still suffering from indecision. Still will keep Ducatis and still KTM, but Aprilia RS660 is now in the mix. Same engine type as the KTM but with sensible power (100 bhp) and fuel tank size with me able to buy at my closest bike dealer (Frasers). Only test riding will enable me to choose. Was put off the Aprilia months ago as luggage carrying potential not great (or non-existent). Now, that is irrelevant as just looking for fun bike for messing about on locally. It might go to France or Ireland but only for a few days, so tank bag and tail pack would suffice.
Oh, you like showering with men, tucking your Willy in-between your legs and then talking like Marylyn Monroe? And that’s sober...
Oh I do mate, the Superduke is an awesome bike, it's built ground up as a naked, it's what it's supposed to do. Loved my Se gen 1 (profile pic) and funnily enough I've just been back reading a thread on the ktm forum about the expectations for the incoming gen 3 rr Kinda sounds like a gen 3 version of my special edition if I'm honest. Essentially power parts trinkets and the akra slip on. I just want to ride the SF v4s and Gen 3 as soon as the showrooms open wc April 12th. The Ducati I like the sound of the recent tweak in torque lower down the rev range for 2021, but it's still £20k ex full system, £24k with and I just struggle thinking it's worth it. If the gen 3 rides and keeps the ergo good for a tall rider like I hope, then I could smash £20k on that and have the full akra, all the tech trinkets and £5k left to buy the Mrs some new tits Update - she's getting some anyway so I'll splurge the £5k on debauchery
Just realised my fat thumb gave you a dislike Yeah fuck that, they're wank Kidding, just rang a couple of dealers, no answer, might have just saved £15k today
£7,000-£8,000 difference though between a pimped Superduke and a Pimped SFV4S is fricking massive. Unless I’m shifting 10+ kilos of Columbian pure and bathing in Krug with a Thai boy rimming me every night, I could never justify that difference. Ignoring the fact I have V4S with full Termi system, carbon wheels and fairings lol
I feel myself going Aprilia BUT do post a report of it. Be interested to know how you get on and your thoughts.
The RR will only get the hideous akra slip on, the full system isn’t road legal.... also if you fit the full system and have the map loaded the bike won’t start with the indicators connected (race bikes don’t have indicators), however you can but a delay unit to get around this. I think each dealer is allocated 1 RR so you’d need to commit ASAP, but for me I’d just buy a Gen3 and raid the PP catalogue.
Hi Rich, Yes did this myself, it's really straight forward probably took 30 mins to do. It's listed in the manual but you don't need that in all reality. From memory it was: - 1. Remove clocks cover 2. Remove clocks (this reveals the 4 bolts holding the bars) 3. Remove the 4 bolts. Bars are now free, I put a towel over the tank and laid them there with all of the throttle/brake lines still attached. 4. Undo the clamps from the top yoke 5. Turn clamps 180 degrees and reverse the above process I did a 300 mile day running the bike in and towards the end of the day I could feel some numbness in my left arm, it's not a huge stretch to the bars but I thought I have the option to adjust, over winter I did the above and I've had a quick ride up and down the road. The 5mm or so the bars have moved back feel a lot more in reality, it's just taken that extension out of my arms, obviously with lockdown I've not been able to test if this will address a long day in the saddle but I'm hoping this may be the fix.
Good move. I'm getting the GT when lock down finishes. As Bumpkin said earlier, the trick is to go for last year's model and save £3-4K while getting the same bike. The only difference (usually) is emissions.
