V4 V4r Numbers

  1. How many were made does anyone know?

  2. IIRC, people were guestimating more than 1000 of the first generation. Andy

  3. Worldwide I’m guessing?

  4. Yeah just wondering how many made. I was told its only 500 but I'm sure that's just the SL. Fascinated to know just how many R's there are.

BTW you're not Fast by Me Dave are you?

  5. Think it would have to be at least 500. Something to do with homologation I believe.

  6. Well I'd say approx 500-750. Homologation somewhere (not sure where though) says that they have to make 250PY to satisfy the rules.

    Found this here :-

Of course, that sub-1000cc element is the part that most clearly sets the Panigale V4R aside from the mass-produced Panigale V4 and V4S models. While they buck traditional, race-mandated capacity classes by using an 1103cc motor, the V4R will need to bring that down to 1000cc or less to compete, with the change reflected in the 500 or more road-going models made to gain homologation.

  7. Yep minimum of 500 for homologation, dunno if they stopped there though.

  8. On the record yes for the above mentioned numbers but how disciplined are the Italians when manufacturing out more than the numbers quoted.

  9. Not quite as exclusive as my old 999R Fila then. Pretty sure that was 200 worldwide. And probably now worth a fortune

  10. Are they numbered? I didn't think they had set a ceiling on how many they would produce, they just have to meet the minimum for competition.

  11. Quite, hence the reason for asking.:)

  12. IIRC, details were posted on the forum about the time the V4R was launched and the number of bikes required at that time (2018 ?) to homologate a new bike for racing is, 50 bikes have to be manufactured (not necessarily sold) before the start of the new race season, a total of 100 bikes need to be manufactured by the end of that race season and a total of 250 bikes need to be manufactured by the end of the following race season. The numbers are verified by inspection at the factory. Andy

  13. Thanks for that, standard homologation rules there.

I've read 500 were going to be made but a mate swears he's read somewhere that the number is over 1000... I can't find anything to say either way with any certainty. :bucktooth:

  14. Post #2, in passing conversation back end of 2018 when I collected my V4 Speciale, Ducati were inundated with deposits for the V4R which pushed the production figures over 1000 bikes worldwide. Andy

  15. “Fast by Everyone” Dave! Hopefully :innocent:
