  2. I *think* the headers are a different diameter between 899 and 959 so a 1299 can might be the best solution if so

  3. True. @LiveFast...... has the 1299 cans and link pipe at a very good price.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  4. yeah, the 959 has the 1299 headers which as 5mm bigger, and uses the clamp style rear flange. Rather than the older 3 bolt flange (in front of the rear wheel) that use to rust up pretty badly

  5. Good info, Thanks!

  6. @Niels23 - Good choice on the bike!

I knew I had an old test where Michael Rutter sets a lap time around Donnington on different bikes to form a league table, he really liked the 959 Corse, some reading as below:-

The bike takes some pretty good scalps on the league table, faster than a V4 Tuono, R1, Fireblade etc
And the picture of him doing a stoppie braking into a corner would make a fantastic poster!
    Enjoy the read.

  7. 2 seconds slower around Donnington than a V4S, something to think about there.... that’s not a lot...

  8. Not a lot unless you're at the top of the game and I bet an average joe would actually be slower on the V4 round most UK tracks.

  9. that’s exactly my point, the average person could get more from the V2, the v4s would scare the crap out of the most people. Point being Rutter can push both to its limit and the difference was 2s

  10. You must have seen this video?

Give it a watch, the results take some believing, an 05 tatty old Gixer thou beats a brand spanking V4 s Panigale on track by over a second a lap.
There’s a lot to be said for bike setup and power that is controllable, these guys couldn’t believe the results so ran the tests again,..same results??

  11. When I finally decided it was time to get my first Ducati last year, after many years on thousands I was set on either the 899 or 959. The 959 Corse was my first choice, as I love that paintwork, but only with the underslung exhausts, so options were limited. In the end I went for a mint, stock 899 and have no regrets. Plenty fast enough for me and I've never heard a standard exhaust sound so good. It's the first bike I've owned where I haven't felt like I want to change anything on it, apart from the screen. I did fit a throttle space kit after a few weeks, as I was curious to see what that was like, and it took a few rides to get used to no slop in the throttle.

The slippery footpegs haven't caused me any issues yet, but I can see what people mean, and the only real nitpick I have is the lack of blackout at the bottom of the screen to protect the back of the dash from sunlight. I was going to change the screen until I discovered what a painful job Ducati made of this, so didn't bother in the end.

  12. You could but some black sticky vinyl and, with a heat gun and some patience (or hair dryer) fit to the outside of the screen

  13. I have thought about that, but not spent time looking into an appropriate film that will apply nicely to the screen's curve.
