I've been looking for a wee while, chasing a carbon or alloy tank for my lil' 749R/999RS track project: You name a Ducati and there's a carbon or alloy tank available for it.....except for these things. Or if you do manage to find the equivalent of rocking horse poo they want the price of a complete cheap Monster for the thing. So I'm wondering if anybody has had a crack at making an alternative? I don't fancy trying to make my own full carbon tank, but I'm thinking of maybe making an alloy sub-tank and just moulding a tank cover over the top. Basically a much smaller version of this sort of thing: That's an extended ZX10R setup for the NW200/IOM. Right now, looking at the above, you are probably just like me thinking "Fuck that, I'd rather have a crack at the carbon fibre job!"..... ......but realistically we only have 6 - 8 lap club races or 15 minute trackday sessions, so I'm thinking 6 litres would be plenty (allowing for a race restart). So I could get away with something as simple as this with a tank cover over the top: That's actually an oil tank for a Seeley or summat, but you get the idea. A bonus would be centralising mass, less weight transfer under braking/acceleration etc. Just rolling the idea around in my head for the moment, she's a slow burn project just working around money and time constraints. But I'm wondering if anybody has done something similar? Or has a better idea? Worth the hassle or should I just save my pennies? FYI, I already have a rough OEM 749R tank but just after something a bit lighter.
There's a dude in Italy making RS replica carbon tanks for stock frame/seat/tail/pump. His price was very reasonable as well (1200€ last I saw them).
Thanks Jussi, that's a good price, even for a replica. Can you remember a name? Don't sweat it if you haven't got it to hand. Yep. I don't mind having a crack and wouldn't cost much if/when I fuck it up, so if nothing crops up I'll probably potter away down that path as I get closer to needing it. Plenty of stuff to do in the meantime.
Awww Jussi, you’re awesome! Wow, quite a bizzare thing to look at eh? I mean it looks good (big? Or just the perspective?) but feels like you are looking at 2 photo’s, one laid on top of the other, lol. Thanks very much mate!

Contact Tom tk21parts I got my radical tank and subframe from him and it wasn’t silly money. https://www.instagram.com/p/B2dj7UPoW5V/?igshid=1jk7p4mhnu36k I’ll be having the rs style tank and tail piece off him in the near future.
Thanks mate. Yes, I’ve actually been corresponding with Tom, nice guy who does some beautiful work. The Radical tank is a definite option. I’m hoping to sort something a bit more 999-ish (I like the shape of the tank without the fugly tank pad)....but it is well priced. His 999RS tank is awesome but means I’d have to commit to an RS subframe (sigh).
Does he make the Radical tanks also? Did he quote you a price for one? I'm on the lookout for a second one. (Or are you talking about the one in Canada?)
Hey mate, he makes a Radical style tank, not sure if he made the actual Radical stuff or just moulded from one. It looks bloody good, either original style or setup for an endurance cap fitting. https://m.facebook.com/Tk21-parts-1663878263892510/ Price was about 820euro
Thank you! Still haven't gotten an answer from Canada so it pretty much makes it a no brainer getting this instead. Probably saves a shit ton on shipping also. Can't you get RS adapters for the RS tank on a mono frame also or is my memory playing tricks with me?
