V4r Trackbike Conversion Engine Check Light

  1. Hi All,

Hope the collective wisdom here can help me, I know a few of you guys have V4's converted to track spec..

I've just put a full set of track fairings and rearsets on the bike. I used a rear light wiring blanking plug as recommended but I now have an engine check light on and the auto headlight indicator is flashing.

Do I also need a front headlight wiring plug? If so where do I get one of those?
Why would the engine check light be lit up? Would it possibly be to do with fitting the rearsets I.e the QS needs pre loading or something?
I'm scratching my head with this.

Bike had the full Akrapovic system installed.

Thanks everyone in advance for your help.

  2. Just checked my V4S track build and the auto headlight telltale flashes with a headlight blanking plug fitted. No engine light though. In ‘Race Evo’ there is a yellow front ABS only telltale lit. Andy

  3. OK so can I use the same headlight plug as used on the 1299 etc? 96580011A ?
So the headlight tell tale is always flashing regardless on your bike?

I'm wondering if the check light is because I don't have the headlight plug...

  4. I had the Ducati V4R track fairing kit fitted which came with (almost) everything needed. I’m not familiar enough with the 1299 to know if the headlight unit is the same as the V4 or if the lack of the blanking plug would result in the check light. Would you get a response if you ask your local dealer’s workshop ? Andy

  5. The headlight unit physically isn't the same if that helps.

I can only go off converting a 1299 to a track bike and I didn't bother with any blanking plugs, no headlight errors but I do get a brake light error the first time you hit the anchors.

I can't see it being rearsets unless you've really screwed this, I assume the Q/S sensor is still within the tie rod on a V4, if so is it connected? You haven't somehow disconnected something else by accident when removing the road kit?

Have you actually started the bike?

  6. or you could scroll through and turn the headlight to manual.......

  7. I don’t think there is an OEM headlight electrical blanking plug (OEM track fairings come with a taillight electrical blank and a side-stand electrical blank) however you can get the dashboard warning disabled by your dealership.
As far as the check engine light is concerned, in my limited experience these can be caused by faulty lambda sensors, so may be related to your installation of the full akrapovic.

  8. Thanks all,

I had no engine light before swapping out the fairings even with the exhaust.

The QS is still in place and wired up, I removed and re installed the long the adjuster rod trying to get it all to fit that's all.

Nothing else has been touched regarding the worong except for removing the rear brake switch loom and the lights.

    It's very puzzling

  9. They don't for a V4 as the ABS unit is involved in so much more, so much so BSD advise not to remove it unless you are going full fat
