Two new front tyres on the van £107 and a rideout with Nelly today, whilst the sun shinning for the next few days i'm out & about floating before it goes shite again.
Yesterday I rescued a bumble bee. I found it late yesterday afternoon floating on a leaf in a bit of water at the bottom of a bucket - it had probably landed to get a drink but then got cold as the bottom of the bucket was in shadow and found he couldn’t take off again. We have a colony of them living in our rear chimney stack so I tried to help him find his way home by opening the bedroom window and putting him on the ridge tiles of the roof but the poor little thing just toppled over and rolled all the way down into the gutter. So I got on a ladder, fished him out of the guttering and brought him indoors. I then evicted a DT175 carburettor from its box and put him in there with a little bit of sugar water on some tissue paper. To my amazement, after a few minutes in the warmth he perked up and ambled across to the tissue paper, unfurled his tongue and filled his furry little boots. Next morning I opened the box outside and he flew away.....
I understand fully where you're coming from as i've carried this task out many times over the years, this way in my tiny little mind i don't feel so guilty when things get splattered against the windscreen at high speed.
There was as much Monster ramp building as there was pub lunch, but I did see both whilst buzzing around Cheshire on my chain saw.
We’ve had a lovely day sitting in the back garden. Had a lovely lunch too before planting some things that my sister in law brought us. This act of digging holes will allow me to play out tomorrow on the V2 without someone moaning at me Also received an email from the local health trust inviting me to book my second cv19 vaccination, so that’s booked for the 19th April
Seemed I joined the world and his wife out and about on the roads in Hampshire, got to have seen about 40 bikes. Popped in to Micheldever Tyres to order a pair of Roadtec 01SE’s and bimbled home via the A272, left at the crossroads next to Loomies and back up through Alton. Stopped off at a roadside burger van for a bacon butty and then managed to get caught inbetween 3 traffic officers out on a training run, 2 on marked bikes and 1 on a Blackbird. A couple of overtakes I wouldn’t have taken but Roadcraft perfect and a lesson for me. Would have been nicer with company but Carole is still too unwell to chance it away from home. Might treat myself to a beer later Andy
Thank you Viv. I don’t think so, she felt pretty ropey for a couple of days after getting the vaccine and then seemed to go down with this the following weekend. Spoke to her earlier and she feels pretty sh*t but (mostly) holding up. Andy x
Walked our springer twice and dug up a tree stump in the garden ,took about 3 hours my backs buggered.
Long overdue replacement work boots and a little ride on yellow one again, with plenty of bikers out there today making the most of it.
Spent the day putting a new roof on the wood shed. Oh and anyone looking to book time off work and hoping for good weather, check in with my holiday rota because I seem to have this uncanny ability to book time off just as the weather improves (I don’t book when the kids are off school so can’t help there)
Took the 600ss out and popped over to Sammy Miller's - it was closed as expected but I though the tea rooms might be doing takeaway. Sammy was there heading over to his field on his trial bike Then went to Lymington for a cup of tea - bike then wouldn't start and then did (I'll stick that in another section) Neil
Busy day, fitted a new battery, c/f side fillets and a set of nice CNC billet rear sets to the 848; and ordered a MOTOLUG double trailer.
