Lots of if and ands were pots and pans, but..... If my bike gets totaled by the insurance man and if I buy the salvage, I may start another build. Bespoke track bike this time, only spent 15 mins on a track in my whole life, but WTF.... Few ideas; 1098 lump in 916 frame again. Maybe 848 exhaust with sub-frame/seat. Is there a special bracket to mount the ecu up front? Anyone have any pics? Also is there a special bracket to mount the front fairing in the absence of the headlight/headlight stays? Cheers.
yep there was a carbon 748RS front fairing tay replaces the headlamp you can mount the ecu up there..........obviously youll need a different loom....
there is a good thread on ducati.ms with that look rear end plus his bike is in carbon looks good with the slash exhausts....
This is the unit for mounting the ECU at the bow. A 1098 ECU is smaller than the 996 unit. This mount is the one I have on my shed. View attachment 16735 View attachment 16736
There are a few around, I will dig out some link. The come up on fleabay a bit, its the ECU mount section on the back which is the hard bit to find.
You will need the earlier throttle bodies as the 1098 uses an idle control valve that is run by the IAW5AM ECU. Sounds like a great project that will require lots of progress piccies.
One of these maybe a good start, then fab a plate or something for the ecu? FHD01 DUCATI 748 916 996 998 TRACK DAY FAIRING BRACKET | eBay
The carbon "race" ECU bracket that Mike posted is made up of about 5 parts - the ECU tray, the headlight bucket, two fairing side arms and the clock binnacle. There are a few about but gettting a whole set will probably be quite tricky. ...and I'd spot Tom's workbench anywhere
May well have it. Just waiting to conclude insurance business... Does your's mount the standard clocks? Cheers
Hi Nelson. If you're going down the track route, and just want light parts that work, i could make you up one off its and bobs from carbon fibre if you need for cost price. The materials aren't that expensive, it's the labour and time that you pay for. He's an old p8 ecu cover i made the other year. Bit battered now but does the job.
