depends what you mean by "right price" - most likely true for the buyer on occasion, most likely true for the seller on occasion, but less likely true for both seller and buyer at the same time/same deal.
I'm no expert in the English language & literature but perhaps we're looking for this word for both parties, Compromising.
I spoke to the owner of this bike. If I understand correctly, it's been a track day bike all it's life, and apparently had grab handles welded to the tank for pillion rides. Seems the carbon frame covers may be hiding some frame damage too.
Its just an 1198 with a larger vol tank. Ignore the QS, theyre shit, ignore the DTC its about as good as the QS. The tank is handy though, but I used to get 100m on my base 1198 ridden briskly and theres 20m of reserve. Ive tested this. All the SE's etc are just base engines with trinkets. Save your money buy a base 1198. Its the engine thats brilliant. The only worthwhile special imho is an R. Everything else is just glitter.
I see the Corse or SP as an 1198S with an alloy tank and better Ohlins shock. So I'd pay an extra £2k over a 1198S. The QS is a negative, more chance of the gearbox being mullered.
From what I understood at the time, the ohlins were customer ohlins and not much better than the base showa. I had my showa set up properly and it was perfect. I guess if you find one with proper ohlins, then happy days. I'd only pay 2k over for proper ttx etc, not the base stuff.
My local bike shop that used to be Ducati dealers weren't impressed with the standard ohlins stuff either. They also reckoned the 1*98 gearbox was dodgy too.
Walkaway then if your not happy, as i just did this morning in a shop selling an very overpriced Chubb deadlock.
There was a very nice black 1198S on ebay for £9.5k last week. 3600 miles, tank hadn't expanded. Sold before I saw it unfortunately.
I sold my last bike around 22 months ago, AFAIK my full NCD will be history if I don't insure another bike in 2 months. I may have to buy a GSX-1000RR in the meantime.
Yeah , what an outrageous con ! I lost more than 10 years NCD because I didn't keep a bike insured , in the UK during the last 2 years ..... which automatically turns the rider into a crash-happy moron .... everyone knows that . " It ought to be illegal " ...... .... Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibb say the same !
Re NCD, bit a £500 hack and insure that. Then when y out u find what you want, get price to change or just cancel, take the pain (hence cheap hack so not big money) and insure new bike with NCD
The insurers may want to know what I've been riding for the last couple of years, when I elbow the hack and want to insure a Ducati?
I've had loads of Jap litre bikes, and I just fancied a 1198, for the looks and noise. But it's looking like a GSX-RR, or 40 years of never claiming goes down the drain .
