Where would I find a list of the best and the worst insurance companies for motorcycles? Pay outs customer service and suchlike
Elsewhere on the forum there are a few very up to date threads on this, you’ll find bemoto are up at the top and numerous contenders for bottom place ! It does get more complicated if you’re after a multi bike policy
I've recently been in the market for insurance for my 1260MTS, having taken the bike out of storage and now riding it once again. I found BeMoto absolutely brilliant I have to say! Not only did they insure my bike with no additional excess, above the standard £350, I also got helmet & leathers cover (£1500 with £50 excess), full (the best level) RAC breakdown cover in the UK and Europe, Legal Expenses £100k cover, Personal Accident cover £15k and European riding cover for up to 90 days per year. It cost me £192 all-in and I was delighted TBH. I hadn't tried them other than once before and didn't get that good a response, however, this time around, the total opposite.
You will hear as many horror stories about claims for bemoto as any others. People on here moan about cost, access to talk to someone, charging for changes and cancellations etc.
I've used Ducati insurance for the last few years. A bit more expensive than other quotes I had, but I've had to ring them two times and they've been absolutely brilliant. Once for an accident/recovery from Scotland claim, and sorting out with breakdown recovery on another.
All insurance companies have praise and complaints. A lot comes down to whether the real truth is told when taking out a policy or not. If a policyholder lies about modifications or his/her driving record they deserve any problems that later come their way really. I always shop around but do not necessarily take the cheapest quote. I look at endorsements (insurance not licence lol) and the compulsory excess before making a decision.
