Hey, Always been keen on the Darmah... been looking for a tidy one for some time now. Wondered how many Darmah owners are on this forum and what the support network would be like?
Hi, I have one (although a recent purchase) I have found the bevel Facebook page very useful. Far less ‘interesting’ than the bevelheads list that I was a member of a few years ago!
If you're in Cheshire, as your profile says, Colin Yates at Desmo Engineering in Crosby (07821 904559) is time served on Desmos. He rides a 900SS bevel as a daily rider, so if you need any work doing, he's your man.
I still have memories of being stuck at the Bol on the Paul Ricard circuit in Southern France in 1983(?) with my Darmah (CFO 182V) not starting and a long ride home ahead. Fecking sprag clutch!!!
I can't remember but it may of had a kick start, as well. Too awkward to start. I needed to assemble a crew of two or three to bump it. I had to be on the bike or the engine would not turn and the back wheel just skidded. Got it fixed when back in the UK - either Oxford Motorcycle Engineers, or Tony Brancato fixed it, I think. I didn't know that it was the sprag, but it was a common problem, I found out too late. Kept the bike until I needed to sell it as I was short of money, needed for either house buying or racing a RD250 in production racing!
Thanks Borgo - helpful to understand the network around.... Having owned a number of classic bikes ive no doubt ill need it. The Ian Falloon book I picked up full of info.
