I'm assuming you were making a joke? If not, google is your friend -though I can save you a search https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopula...deathsoccurringbetween1januaryand31august2020
No flu deaths because people are wearing masks. No coughs and colds in the supermarkets as everyone is hands face space
Don’t you find it odd that there have been so few deaths due to flu compared to other years. Also people that may be susceptible to flu are susceptible to covid ?
Yes, doesn’t that mean the social distancing, masks etc are good for stopping the flu and colds but not covid.
Given that flu is generally passed from person to person in close proximity and for the last year that has been dramatically reduced; together with more than double the usual numbers of the public having a flu shot -no not really.
Maybe, have to say I am not convinced, if you add up deaths from all the things masks etc are supposed to stop it doesn't seem to have made much difference. On the other hand we, a household of 6, have not had a cold type illness all winter. So perhaps a bit of common sense, if you have a cold and have to go out, wear a mask and stay away from others as best you can.
Perhaps that could be thought of in a different way? Masks & distancing are very useful at reducing Covid 19 transmission, though unfortunately not as effective as they are on flu where the reduction is dramatic...
You base that conclusion on the effectiveness of masks on flu compared to CV19. They are very different diseases. I've have no idea of how bad the Covid 19 numbers would have been without masks & social distancing but the scientists and epidemiology professors do, and its them who want us to take precautions. I really hope the public -following on from this- actually start to stay at home when they are full of flu & colds. That would be a great improvement. How often have we all seen kids with snot running down their faces, and adults coughing like mad? Hopefully people have learnt.
If they are very different then the precautions are wrong, based on them significantly reducing flu but not so much covid. Let’s see what happens as the restrictions are lifted, if covid cases rise again then it hasn’t worked.
Alan your car brakes always work. They work brilliantly on a dry road. They work OK on a dusty road. They aren't as good on a wet road but they are way better than no brakes at all because you still stop... Remember too that the disease is mutating. We may have saved thousands of lives from the original CV19, if the deaths rise again, it may well be as a result of a different version of the virus.
To me thats a very strange conclusion to reach. Personally I think we have saved thousands of lives, and we have every chance of continuing to do so. The last thing that would occur to me is that we should give up.
That’s fine, as long as lockdowns etc don’t have a big impact on you. Surely going in to a lockdown every time they find a new ‘version’ isn’t the answer.
from the lifting of restrictions so far that I have seen there hasn’t been any mask wearing so of course covid will transmit but it won’t be down to wearing a mask it will be not wearing one I’m going to make a work place adjustments to wear a mask when I’m at work at all times
Just wear a mask have space and wash your hands regularly that’s all Handwashing became a thing of the past pre covid we stopped washing our hands and giving space when sneezing and lack of tissue/hand Putting cards in mouths and money
This is it. All the lockdown fanatics aren't being negatively impacted by lockdown. Which is why they'll be first on their high horses trotting out the lockdown bullshit. It's the me, me, me world we live in nowadays I'm afraid.
If cases rise and in, say, 3-4 months time there is another lockdown. At what point does someone have to say 'hang on, this isn't working' ?
I don't think the the impact of a lockdown on me (or virtually everyone else) is a bad as the impact of death to someone else, so in that you are 100% right about my feelings. The solution is to keep looking for one until we find it. Just like every other significant world changing thing that has happened in mankind's history. It took a while to learn to fly, to end polio, even to perfect the taste of marmite and all were worthwhile endeavours.
