Normally they’d ask what CC the last bike was. Plenty of cheap interim bikes out there if you get desperate and worrried you’ll lose it. Plus bangernomics means it’s likely you’ll sell for what you buy for
Plus many insurers will take old or different NCD as a guide, they simply reduce it often. But it does reduce the number of insurers.
I’ve done similar recently, chopped my £1500 Suzuki for a 9k Panigale, and no problems at all. I let one lapse, got new quote, answered the ‘biggest capacity in last few years’ questions as 1250, insurance sorted with old 9yr NCD on tact all via the meerkat
