I would have thought that a dent in the frame would be called a bent frame and technically a write off . No wonder they want to buy it back they are probably in breach of every sales rule going. Get it back pronto . You could even show them the one you have seen and tell them I want that one . Dealers will work between themselves to get out of an awkward situation.
if the dealers offering full money back i think they know something, maybe they have looked deeper into the history? take it back, get your cash and go to yamaha and buy a litre sports bike, you'll never look at a mid sized bike again
thanks for the ideas guys. I think there maybe something in the idea that they know something, and may be on dodgy ground if indeed it's classed as a bent frame. They have a Corse but in gray... hmmm maybe at the right price Or see what they can get hold of.
If a lovely benevolent dealer has ever so kindly offered to buy your bike back at the very same price you paid for it, I suspect a dastardly sub-plot. Either he has discovered your bike has some very highly sought after lineage (Rossi rubbed his man glands on it) or it's dodgy/unsafe. Be gone!
I've been looking at more pics of the grey Corse SE. Fickle lad that I am, its growing on me. Am I mad considering buying another bike from the same outfit that sold me my lemon? (the devil on my shoulder keeps showing me pics of bikes with gold forks....)
Stop dithering boy - the grey one is best If the dealer is being honest about the lemon then should be ok - are they a big dealer ?
I wasnt sure of the 2013 SE till I saw one in the flesh....the tank did it for me on its own. Go and see one in the flesh and see what you think. Oh and get shot of the current one back to the dealership pronto!
Bike is going back. Dealer is a main one in england, single location but seems to have a good rep. Interestingly they race in the 848 challenge. Hoping there's no quibbles over price and the milage I've added, I won't be very happy if there is. Going to visit my local Ducati dealer today and have a look see.
Well that was interesting. A chap I met at my local dealer just let me have a go on his old GSXR 1000. Woah! I wasn't expecting that, what a top bloke. Handled great, power delivery was smooth and linear. Very cramped position knees under my chin and as ugly as you like, but my first impressions of my first IL4 was pretty bloody good. It didn't feel like the bigger bike had compromised handling at all since the power was so controllable. His recommendation was to try as many bikes as I can, esp a CBR600 'best bike ever made'. The jap bikes do nothing for me aesthetically though.
my local Mand S motorcycles has just got a beautiful mv augusta f4r 312 in its bloody gorgeous inline 4 with exotic italian flair !!! my old gsxr1000 makes my 999s feel like a 3 legged donkey. I did like the styling of both, but the 999s is undeniably better looking
Mv yep they have that vibe and mystique about them. God knows how far a dealer is from me though. Currently sat in my local Ducati place looking at two dark evos as I type. In the flesh they look very smart. No corse though, but there are plenty of 1199's Actually trying to resist sitting on a mutly. The sane sober side of me figures I could get rid of both my bikes and have all bases covered with one. But that's no fun is it.
Yep. Just got back test riding the 1198S and a Multistrada. Holy shit!! The 1198 (with termis) is phenominal. I didn't feel it was out of control all all, it was much smoother lower down than my 848. But achres of torque wherever you want it. It just runs out of steam at the very, very top. I'd need to tweak the suspension because it didn't turn as easily as my 848. To be expected, but I think it could be improved. Got on the multi. Rode 1/4 mile. Got back on the 1198. The multi is not for me, not just now anyway. Down side? I think I've gone deaf!
Whereabouts did you manage to take it to the "very very top" and what was the indicated speed?
I'm sorry, that's classified info  But I'm talking about engine power and character not top speed. The rev limit happens very quickly and there's not much warning, except for that little bit of flatness at the very top. On the 848 you know you're wringing its neck and it doesn't stop going even when the lights flash at you. I shat myself for the first 15mins though, it was insane, but I also felt strangely at home. I'm going to jump on the 848 just to compare while its fresh. I problalby shouldn't but I need to know. EDIT: Took the 848 out with memory of the 1198S fresh in my mind. I was expected to be disapointed, to feel like the bike was lacking having experienced the big brother. And..... it wasn't. They are different bikes, and I can now appreciate what others have said about the 848 being plenty for the road. Fact is BOTH those bikes are way more capable than me, so neither dissapoint, I am fully involved on either one. The 848 is way more flickable, and the 1198s had way more drama. But both are absolutely awesome. Think I'll will stick with the 848 and look for a Corse SE as planned.
Nice colours bob Riders' sales chap's opinion was even to forget the panigale (yes, I was asking ;-) and that the 848 Evo is the most involving bike he could think of to buy. The only bike that was 'better' was the Multi! simply because it was not as focused as the 848, but better everywhere else. He did rate and suggested I try a crossplane R1. For an IL4 it's very characterful apparently.
Mate thats a nightmare. I saw a 400 mile 848 EVO Corse for £10,500 (2012) at Farnham Honda yesterday.....if you were looking down that route. Personally I'd get the SE
