Does anyone use the X Spirit 3 and find it really drafty inside the visor at speed even with all the vents closed, enough to make your eyes water?
I’ve got one, have you got the chin curtain fitted ? I use a buff plus the chin curtain and I don’t get any drafts up it. Is the visor shutting okay? Put your hand over the visor , at the top right position then top left position, now do the same for bottom right and bottom left,....if you find that having your hand over one particular quadrant stops the draft, tweak the corresponding screw on the visor plate mechanism to pull that area of the visor further back onto the seal. Gotta say, out of the four helmets I’ve got the X spirit 3 is my least favourite when you consider what they cost
Cheers @Poucher i do have the chin curtain which definitely helps with noise reduction, but the draft insde the visor is quite annoying and never experienced this with precious helmets.
Oh..just remembered, I’ve also added a bit of neoprene ( wet suit material) or is it gore wind stopper ? to the inside of the chin curtain as well, I think as standard it was a bit easy to get a draught through so I put the extra piece in . You just need to experiment a bit, firstly to see where it’s coming from,...put your hand horizontally, directly under the chin of the helmet , if the breeze stops, that’s where your problem is, now you just need to add an extra permanent layer to keep the draft out,....have a go next time your out
First thing is to make sure that the visor is clipped fully in on both sides. They can fail to locate properly
I do get this a bit actually, noticeable on really cold days with all vents shut, chin curtain and deflector, with the visor fully closed. I swear I remember reading somewhere about wanting to still allow some fresh air inside the helmet so you're not building yourself a little bubble without fresh air which can obviously be dangerous. My NXR did similar. But as others have said also make sure your visor is fully clipped in both sides, I've had it pop out before and still be just about operational. Ensure its adjusted to a tight seal around the visor and also use the silicone lube for the seals that comes with it as this helps the visor to locate fully when closing and create a better seal
Check the visor is calibrated properly mate, if you have it set so that it's not flattening the seal all the way around the visor opening you'll get a horrid draft up under and into your eyes.. It's common for people to be riding around on poorly set up lids. One small caveat though...... you bought a race helmet, no apologies from the manufacturer, it's designed to move a phenomenal amount of air through it and noise volumes honestly aren't even in their design brief. Controversial I know but I was trained by Shoei years and years ago and this was made clear.
Thanks mate, to be honest with the chin curtain and aerodynamics the helmet’s surprisingly quiet. May be a daft question but what’s the best way to calibrate the visor to ensure a good seal?
